Snow Tires for R56

Did anyone get snow tires for their R56 yet? From what I've heard, they need to be 16" and my dealer wants $1800 for the set!!! On older models folks were able to get black rims & snow tires for $400ish.

16" *may* be needed for the MCS, depending on the wheel. Someone posted here recently regarding 15" wheels from Tirerack.com which apparently should fit. I have the R56MC, and swapped 16" Conti runflats for 15" Blizzaks.

I heard tire rack has 15" for MCS. I have the MC and put 16" Dunlop wintersports M3 on mine. Don't but snows from the dealer as you will pay too much.

I got some 16"wheels from r53 that people said would not fit, they do. And the continental winter sport tires that came with them are amazing.

How does the MINI do in the smow? I live in AZ where it does not snow. But up in the mountians it does. I was thinking of taking the MINi up on a skiing trip.

Does very well and i had no issues last blizzard blowing by X5 suv's that were doing 50km/h on the highway north to work. but it's short wheel base does make it twichey when braking hard on icey roads...but only people like me do that :P

I believe the Sport Edition F2 at Tire Rack is a 15inch that fits the R56 MCS. They quoted me less than $700 to get a set with Blizzaks. I wanted to stick with a run flat so I get 16inch ASA JH6 wheels with Continental winter runflats. I haven't seen any snow yet, but I'm happy with the set up to this point.

Call Alex at Tire Rack for good advice.

If that's the case, and someone can verify, I'd swap my s-winders and run-flats for a set of just the rims in a heartbeat. Anyone want a set of 16" rims with 12k on the tires for $300.....? You could put snow tires on them, and know they'll fit right.......

Same question - did 15" fit on your MCS as I've been adviced by SPDinNY and others to stick to 16".

I'm thinking of getting these wheels for my 2007 MCS:

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...100&vid=010596

But there are different size options available: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...007&vid=010596

And I'm not sure which ones would be ideal with these wheels. Could someone make suggestions?

Some 15" wheels fit, many don't.

As far as I know (and I looked in many places) there are no steel wheels that fit the new MCS. No 15" steel wheels that fit. No 16" steel wheels that fit.

I'm very curious as well.

I ended up with a set old 17" S-Lites for $150 from another MINI club member and I just ordered a set of Dunlop Wintersport M3's for $714 (mounted, balanced, tax etc).

Not a cheap set-up, but only using them for three months out of the year, they should last a while.

Can anyone tell me the backspacing on the stock rims? I guess the bolt pattern is 4x100mm but what about the backspacing. Don't let anyone tell you there are no steel rims that fit. There has to be some out there.

these are 205/55/16's on my wife's mini. They are a little oversized but they look ok.

They look great. For winter wheels, they're perfect. I would just be concerned that 16's might be hit or miss... and 15's more miss... when fitting over the MSC front brake calipers. You set-up obviously worked out perfect.

I just received my set of 16" Dunlop Wintersport M3 tires from TireRack and will be mounting them on my existing rims. I was trying to get steel rims for the snows but I was unable to find any that fit the '07 minis.

I'm getting the tires mounted on Tuesday.

I bought a set of 16" MCS wheels (the stock star-looking ones) and got Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2's (195/65R16) from Discount. Got a good deal on both: $650 for the rims with bonus brand new ContiSport runflats and $481 for the tires mounted, balanced, and installed.
