Just had Blizzak Revo 1's in 185/65/15 from tirerack (only $57 each) installed on my wife's R56 Rotator wheels yesterday.
I just bought a set of new takeoff 15" wheels and summer tires (Contact2)
for $400.00 shipped from a member here.So for about $660 we have 2 new sets of Mini wheels, 8 new summer tires and 4 new snows.
The F2 whells are basic gravity cast from China for about $80. We liked the Kosei K1 TS in grey, lighter weight, better quality but not in stock,so stayed with OEM wheels.

The Blizzak's feel very good on dry pavement, no snow right now.
We had Dunlop Graspic's on her Mustang, and the sidewalls really squirmed while corning, I think these will be great.

Ahhhhhh Help!

PROBLEM:
I just got my 15" Blizzak tires with F2 Sport wheels installed a few minutes ago. They went on fine But I got home and looked at the wheels and drumroll please.......The brakes just about clear the rim thats fine, BUT the wheel weights that were put on from Tirerack they came off on the left front tire and got scraped down on the right front tire.:impatient

The wheel weights are toward's the outer part of the wheel (where the brake caliper resides and has very little clearance) and when the wheel turned it didnt make it and the LF one came off and the RF one got scrapped down.

The rear ones are fine because there is plenty of clearance between the rim and the wheel plus the weights are toward the inner part of the rim on these and not the outer.:impatient

AHHHHH I just e-mailed Alex @ Tirerack to see what can be done. If I leave it with no weights will that realllly Screw up the whole wheel and it be a wobbling?

But other than that They feel alot better than the 17" runflats I had, man were those stiff

If anyone knows if that will affect the balance of the wheel alot and or handling let me know other than that I'm waiting for Alex's email.

Photos:
Tires Installed

SPACING ON RF TIRE, SEE HOW THE WHEEL WEIGHT WON'T FIT BETWEEN WHEEL AND CALIPER :(

SPACING ON RR TIRE, PLENTY OF ROOM BETWEEN TIRE AND CALIPER

CLOSEUP OF LF WHEEL AND BRAKES....YOU CAN TELL WHEEL WEIGHTS DONT HAVE ENOUGH ROOM TO FIT THROUGH THERE :impatient

LEFT FRONT WHEEL WEIGHT CAME OFF (YOU CAN TELL B/C HOW TIGHT SPACE IS BETWEEN IN ABOVE PHOTO)

and FWIW I would make them send you a set of 16's instead that fit right at no extra charge, since your going to want to send them back. I mean honestly if you get any debris in there those rims or the calipers are going to get damaged. I wouldnt want something getting wedged in there and locking up a tire.

I have the F2's and Revo 1's on my MC. I did not have any clearance trouble as the MC has smaller brakes.

I'm not sure I like the tires.... on one particular pavement type:
We have a newly resurfaced highway in the area that has grooves for water run-off that flow with traffic. These "V" shaped grooves cause my car to shimmy -- it feels as if it is being pushed by heavy winds. The tires work fine crossing steel mesh bridges or on other paved surfaces. It's these parallel grooves that bother them.

Tirerack just e-maileed me back and told me "Because we weren't able to see that car, we couldn't prevent this weight/ caliper contact" And to get them rebalanced and the'll pay the bill ....But what is that going to do to fix it? I mean if they were balanced at tire rack and I get them done again wont the weights go in the same spot again?

Or Should I really ask for ones that fit at no charge? I have to pay shipping tough to send them back right?

Ahhhh This stinks.

Just bring them into a local tire shop and have the weights mounted on the front of the wheels, either tape weights or the high-end clamp weights that are made for alloy wheels.

My wife just got home with her 07 MC with the exact same tire/wheel setup as you. I checked and the MC doesn't have any clearance problem with the front wheels. Don't forget to check on speedometer error with the different tire now. I found on our MC, the error is overstating actual speed so wife thinks she's doing 60 when she's really doing 58.

Edit. I just checked, I assume you were running the stock 17" runflats 205/45-17; their speedo error is so minute in doesn't make much difference -- 65 mph on the speedo translated to 65.54 on the new tires.

They should not have placed the weights as they did at TIRERACK - weights should be at the outside of rim - not the center - too hard to balance that way. I have the same rims and the tape weights are on the INSIDE of the back of the flange. Have all 4 rebalanced so you can rotate them when you need.

Yeah but If I rebalance them wont they need to put the magnets in the same spot as they are now? Or when they rebalance the tires thell be in a different spot?

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you Tio. I have 3 sets of wheels & tires all balanced that way. I didn't want weights showing on the outside rim. There is really no problem balancing a tire that way. I've had zero problems with that method. I do have much more caliper clearance on my R53 though.

What really surprised me about this issue was that Tirerack didn't catch it. It was my belief that they test fitted wheel & tire packages before offering them for sale. My guess, maybe they did, but with an unbalanced wheel & tire. Happy ending though, since Tirerack is making this right.
