R56 Sunroof yes/no?
Sun light through sunroof make the interior of Mini looks bigger and unique (over size glass). This is the only reason I order it.
For me, it is hot in the summer. Solution is have it tinted. Problem solved.

I don't dislike sunroofs as a whole - the BMW E36 sunroof is nice; my '91 Integra's wasn't bad, I rarely open my TDI's but that's because the roof rack creates a ton of wind noise - but words fail to describe how much I HATE (and I tend to use that word sparingly) the MINI sunroof.
Loud as hell when open...
Let's in too much light... although better when some sort of decal is applied...
Stupid screen does NOTHING...
Source of rattles (although Nittany has been good about that)...
Did I mention LOUD AS HELL when open?
Seriously - our MCc with the top down is quieter on the highway than the MCS with the sunroof open...

Currently, I drive a BMW Z4 and 325i. I love top-down driving, but I've used the 325's sunroof maybe 3 times in the years I've had the car. In my search for a jet black MCS (2003-2005) to replace my 325i, I'm really hoping I find one without a sunroof; so far, it seems a very popular option.
Wow i've got to say i wasn't expecting quite this many opinions, guess i hit a nerve. Anyway i think DSRH's comments have swayed me. I don't have the grey hair but i can relate to the feeling when motoring with the windows down and the sunroof popped and just listening to the car. This is one of the things I'd forgotten about driving my old car.
I'll probably get one as long as I can keep the price down.
Thanks again for all the input, you guys have really helped allot!

True, having the sunroof is going to add a small amount of weight & for serious motorsports you must have a tin/no-glass top, but I'm not buying a new mini to gut out & run fender to fender, I'll build up a fiberglass bodied classic mini for that someday.
In the Pacific Northwest, the sun's a welcome treat, not a scorching threat, bring on the extra light (and sunshine whenever it breaks through), if it's really too hot, we'll get it tinted.
One thing no-one's mentioned yet, when you're buzzing along that seemingly empty road, how're you going to spot the traffic cops hovering overhead in their small planes without that vertical window

I was not going to get a sunroof. I have not had a susnroof in several years. I bought a MINI off the lot as they say. It has a sunroof and I love it. My interior is Tuscan beige leather. I enjoy the light coming in. I may decide to tint it or something in the summer but for now I love it. I would suggest that you test drive a car with and without it and see how your gut responds.

And if it's too much sun, it can always be tinted or get a sunroof graphic.
