R56 The Importance of Coffee
The Importance of Coffee
The other morning, I left home for work and stopped at a convenience store to get coffee.
I got back in the car with my coffee, and the car wouldn't start. I push the button (R56) everything lights up, the headlights come on, radio works, but no start. I try 2-3 more times. Can't be the battery. Starter's not even clicking. Starter cable fell off?
I get out of the car thinking I'll check under the hood, but my mind is running the "crap, I'm going to have to get it towed, which means I'm late for work" script.
I think maybe it's not sensing that I have my foot on the brake, and previous attempts have caused the brakes to build pressure. So I put it in neutral, release the hand brake, roll it back a bit, get in, try to start it in making sure I have the foot firmly on the brake -- same thing.
Try it with the key in, the key out (I have "comfort access"), same thing.
Then I had that "lack of sleep has its consequences" moment.
Gotta disengage the clutch before starting the car.

hahahaa I have those moments in the morning when I wake up in a panic before classes start (Cedarville University) and I get all riled up... then press the
senseo
machine button :p :p
and then realise it's only 7:55 not 8:55...
Yep, most mornings are like this.

Sounds familar, the other morning before I got to work to get my coffee I was rolling down my driveway and I couldn't stop and I was pumping the brake and it wouldnt work. I was about to cry when I realized I was pumping the clutch! I hit the brake and wow the car stopped haha. Maybe I should set the auto on the coffee maker
Wow, I have never had that problem.
I have the opposite, actually. When I get into an car with an auto, the first stoplight is sheer terror, for me only, while I frantically look for the clutch to keep if from stalling.
Coffee does not seem to help me.

Ahhh now, this may vindicate my decision to go with the automatic transmission. It will prevent me from having an early morning heart attack! Who knew it was a life-saving device? I thought it was just to try to save my left knee.
I couldn't start my BMW one day--couldn't even turn the key. Gulp. Took quite a while of troubleshooting before I realized...I had my OTHER BMW's key in it. Duh...
Still don't know why I could push in the key, since the cars were 13 years apart.

Got up too late to make coffee last week. Running late for work, got in the MINI and pushed the start button . . . NOTHING HAPPENED! Was thinking what GREAT timing this was , and then realized that my key fob was in the pants i wore the day before. Gotten so used to the comfort access, i never put the key in the slot . . .
