I didn't see metal, but either method will work. unless you strip them both.

Heres a pic of my stripped screw, yah i butchered the H&!! out of it.
I trick I have used in the past for stripped plastic, was to use a propane torch to heat up a narrow allen or torx wrench. Once good and hot, press the long end of the wrench slowly into the stripped plastic screw. It should melt into the plastic. Hold it steady, and let it cool. You now should have a way to unscrew the stripped screw. remember to wear gloves.

how about attaching a plastic piece to it with superglue? Something in the shape of a spring winder on toys.

seems like two tiny rocks would do the magic. place two tiny rocks in the stripped hole so that there is a thin space between the two tiny rocks. place a flat screw driver between the two tiny rocks and turn. The rocks should provide enough resistance, IMHO.
