R56 Big surprise yesterday
Hey Chris,
Not meaning to put down the glory of your new MINI, but do you know why your car was held up at the VDC for so long? It might be good to ask. Turns out our car was held up at the VDC because it got damaged during shipment. Most likely, we won't accept it because I don't like the fact of paying for a brand new car that has been repaired/repainted. For more info check out the week 34 thread here (starting with post # 280):

Yikes, not good.
Sorry to hear that - did they specify what got damaged and how? I'll ask about mine today. I'm hoping mine was there for awhile because of the iPod adapter. Am going to use the checklist posted in the forums too.

Ours had the iPod adapter installed at the VPC/VDC as well...
No, they still haven't let us know exactly what happened to it yet. All they've been able to tell us so far is that the damage was "minor". However, we have no idea what the VPC considers as being "minor"???
Again, I don't mean to put bad thoughts into your head about your awesome looking new MINI (ours is also DS/BLK), but I do want those who are seeing a delay at the VPC to know that damage during shipment does indeed happen and that they should inquire as to the reason why their car has been held up.

Finally got some pics uploaded.
At the dealership

Sanitized for my protection.

Leaving the dealership. Car and new owner, both eager to start motoring.

And...at home, after a good bath (already dusty from two days of motoring) and detailing, courtesy of me and my Prima starter kit.

One minor issue though - the iPod connector. Seems the stereo doesn't recognize it, so the dealer will have to take a look at it. Not a biggie in the grand scheme of things. All-in-all, an awesome weekend, chock-full of smiles. Looking forward to my long future with Serenity.
