Rear Seat Protector - anyone have one?

Hi,

I ordered my mini last Monday and am anxiously waiting! In the meantime, I am researching some potential accessories. Has anyone used the available rear seat protector from mini? http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=5277

I have 2 pugs that will more than likely ride in the back. I like the fact that this cover protects not only the seats but the sides too.

Any comments or opinions are appreciated.

Thanks.

I have one for the same reason (whippets instead of pugs). It fits well and does what it's supposed to. It even has coverings for the back of the front seats! We don't use those because we use the cargo nets on the back of the seats, but it was a surprise to find those included.

It has these plastic clips attached with elastic to hold up the sides. You tuck the clip between the window and the pillar covering. They don't stay in too well, but I got some velcro tabs that I think will work, just haven't gotten around to putting them on.

To put the seats down you have to unzip the back from the sides; not that big of a deal, but can get old if you're always changing from dog hauler to cargo hauler. But since my cargo has all been mods and track wheels, I guess I can't complain.

That's a better price than we got at our local dealer, but I think it's a must if you're going to be hauling around dogs in your MINI.

METALHD - how many whippets do you have? I have a pair, have also been looking at the various car covers, particularly those that help prevent them from falling in to the foot well of the back seat. Do you use any harnes attachments? (Doggie seat belts?)

I bought the MINI protective rear seat cover and it's been worth every penny! I have a boxer who is VERY energetic (as all boxers all) and it's worked wonderfully so far (I've only had the car 1 1/2 weeks). It's nice to protect the leather from little doggie claws, but still be able to take your furry friend with you. Here's a picture of Smokey in the back of the MINI:

Instead of the rear seat cover I went with the hard plastic liner for the boot and the extension (available from outmotoring.com). The overall cost is less and it is easier to get my dogs in and out of the boot instead of the through the doors.

Does the Outmotoring extension fit well? Any complaints?

It fits very well. I got the boot liner for my R56 and one for my wife's R53 and one extension unit to share between both of them. The extension fits well in both. We keep the boot liners in the Minis at all times and when needed we have the extension that can be put in either one.

Thanks. My dealer threw in a boot liner with mats when I purchased and I like it. The extension is something I've thought about as we always have the seats down anyway. Nothing slides on the liner so the extension might come in handy.
