R56 Joey mod on 2007 MINI Coopers
Joey mod on 2007 MINI Coopers
Hey if you all dont know what a "Joey Mod" is it blacking out the headlamps. I did a search and alot of people did it to their R53 Mini's but does anyone know if this can be done with the 2007's with Xenons? I like the look of the "One Millionth Mini" how the ring around the XENON headlight is still silver and not all blacked out.
I wonder if its easy dimantle the headlight assembly as the R53's? Thanks Guys & Girls!

i doubt theres many r56's with joey mods so it may be a little hard to find helpful info . but there is one way to tell ....pop out your headlights and look at how the lens is sealed to the housing more than likely its doable if you have time pop the headlight out take pics of it all around and load them up ill tell you if its doable ...ive already done 3 joey mods so by the look of the lens sitting on the housing ill be able to tell you .....
If I understand correctly, this mod seems like it would be fairly simple on an R56. The headlight chrome trim is now a seperated from the headlight assembly...the trim is on the bonnet is easy to access (not sure about removal, though). The headlight on R56 is mounted on the body, to tinting that would be easy...you don't even have to be neat as once the bonnet is closed, only the headlight (not the surrounding assembly) is visible.
Or not feeling pain and fear...

gokartride, the joey mod isnt actually a tinit like laminex or a spray tint. one actually removes the headlight lens and paints all surfaces inside the housing that are not key to reflection of light. I will be doing this on my R56 eventually, (once i get some cojones) and will employ the help of some people who have joey'ed the R53. here is a thread of someone who took apart the assembly to take out the amber lense. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=112958
