I just got my seal installed today by my dealer but the wind noise seems like it's still there during highway driving.

 

Yeah I drove around yesterday and today and didn't notice any difference with noise.

 

did you have them check your front windshield seal? When your driving on the highway next time press the top protion of your front windshield forward and see if that makes it go away....its crazy but there is a known issue with the seals on the windshield not being so great...theres even a video on youtube with this guy pushing on it to make it go away...many people have had the problem but they fix it under warrentee.....let me know what happenes

 

Ok. I will give that a try tomorrow but the wind noise sounds like it is coming from some where near the door but then again I could be wrong.

 

now it may not be as intense (and as fast haha) as on this video but ive heard that many here noise (not that whistle just wind noise) at highway speeds.

I just checked, I do have the door seals, Early march build. Not sure when they quit putting them in.

I do not have weather stripping on my doors either! Not sure of build date. I bought mine off the lot. I will be contacting dealer A.S.A.P. Thanks for the info.

 

Week 34 build here, no seals.

 

I am experiencing wind noise directly attributed to cabin leakage originating from the driver's side window. At approximately 90 mph+, the window losess its seal in the upper-foward corner. I've tested this on many occacians by lightly pressing on the glass in the area of suspician. This increases the amount of wind noise entering the cabin.

If only I had someone to push from the other side at high speeds. That could solve the problem.


In all seriousness, I need a technician to inch the glass up a millimeter or two to create better contact with the rubber seal around the door.

 

I am trying to confirm or deny that there was a product update that deleted these seals. I will keep you all posted!

 

Mine was an early March build and I do have the seals installed.

Maybe someone broke into your cars and stole them.

 

Picked up my car today and it didn't have the seals (week 34 build). Other cars on the lot had the seals so my MA put in an order for them.

 

Week 34 here too, no seals. What's the deal - was the guy who puts on that part on holiday that week?

 

Or they just made a design change and stopped putting the seals on. They don't seem to do much in the way of eliminating wind noise.

 

I picked up my week 34 car yesterday and seals had been installed and I emailed the dealer the info from this thread. They told be that ~50% of their cars come with them.

According to my MA it's exactly that - they no longer serve any purpose as the result of a design change. Although I wouldn't be surprised if he's just telling me that because he doesn't want to put in an order for some...

 

Wonder what the design change might have been? The sill area on my car (came without sills) looks identical to another car at my dealer which had the seals. Same shape, etc. Could be they determined the seals were doing anything and not needed I guess. Just a weird thing since dealers don't seem to have a straight answer.

 

I think if anything it was decided that they really didnt affect wind noise and they only caused a problem with rust because they retained water...personally id rather a fix but oh well

 

I do not see the sense in some having and some not having... that is sloppy production! You would think the reason is straight forward rather than having to guess & second guess. These are cars---not mystery novels for godsakes...

 

So if the omission was based on a "design change" I wonder what that was. Would it mean that the bottom of the doors in later 07's were somehow different than the earlier ones? I've read threads about rust in pre-07 models but that had to do with the seal around the door, not the sweep in question. I bet they just decided they really weren't necessary and they could save a few bucks (pounds) per car by leaving them off.
FWIW I do notice less water on the sills after washing.

 

Yeah, would seem to me that without the bottom seal, water would be free to enter and collect in the openings where the seal should go. Wouldn't that be worse? Strange indeed.

 

I asked my MA to help me get the seals installed. What I'm up against in Pennsylvania is lots of slush and loose snow during the winter. I don't expect that bottom strip to keep anything dry. But, it might help keep some of the more solid stuff out.

By-the-way, my MA didn't flinch and got the seals and my chrome-line-rear-cup-holder-trim-piece ordered straight away - no questions asked.
