R56 Sunroof on new car

I cant imagine driving a car without a sunroof....always had one in every car I ever owned. I would think if you're a kid you would especially appreciate one. Nothing like having the sunroof open, windows down, on a warm summer night driving through some twisties with the ladies and the music streaming through the air.
Btw, I love the dual tilt function on the new sunroofs...wish I had them on my 04.
Also, 18 yrs ago, I was one of those kids that got a new car when I was young....I dont see anything wrong with that if your parents can comfortably afford one and you in turn can appreciate what your parents have done for you. Enjoy it and know you are one of the lucky ones.

OK people, opinion from a FOG (57) wife got here Toyota Avalon in 96 (11 years ago) She is getting a new Toyota in Nov (I am ordering my Mini next week and this sun roof is in my head) In the last 11 years I bet we have not had the sun roof open more that maybe 6/7 times... We really do not use it... and these just tilt up (?) and don't move back (forgive me - I am very new to the Mini's - Just had my test drive today and going back on Sat to drive with both tops (sun roof and No sun roof) ... Anyway... My first choice is to put that extra $$ into something else...

Wow
I have to agree with Surf Blue on this one...I think you need to have a "beater" as your fist car. It teaches you a lot...like how to work on your car, come up with creative fixes until your next bus-boy paycheck shows up etc...plus when you "accidently" hit something, it isn't the first scratch, dent or other undesirable addition to your car. Plus, you will always have that story about your first car and what piece of ( insert explative here ) it was. That being said, if people in your HS are driving Hummers, BMW blah blah blah...and you show up in an 88 Toyota Tercel ( a fine machine I might add ), you will get stomped like a nark at a biker rally.
That being said, bail on the Hi-Fi and the headlights and go for the sunroof...you won't regret it.
