Saw this on another forum this morning

quote:
I got rear ended by a car changing lanes, nobody saw who it was or got plates, it spun our mini sideways and into the front of a truck, who did not see us and kept on driving about a 1/4 of a mile

few more pictures here, we are sore but safe, all the damage is cosmetic, I'm glad mini's are built like tanks, I'm afraid if I was in our truck or x5 it would have flipped and rolled us over

we are both sore and ok, wifes ankle is swollen, she hit it on the door sill

it was quite an experience, with that truck 3" from my head
endquote

Very impressive - must have been scarey!

If anything I'm getting from this thread, it's this: MINIs are very safe cars to be in if you are unfortunate enough to be in an accident!

My insurance adujuster claims they have only put about $1500 more dollars into it than originally quoted.
I am very upset that it was not totaled.
Any advice??
Has anyone else had problems getting their cars back in a timely matter after an accident? I have been told it is due to the lack of availability of parts.
I thought I had it bad, hit a dog, $6,000 in damage

It could be worse. About five years ago, I had an Audi A3 turbo wagon (with that wonderful dual clutch tranny... sigh). Driving through rural Texas at night, and a cat ran right in front of the car. About half a second later *THUMP*. which was the 100 pound boxer-looking dog that was chasing the cat, and ran into the SIDE of my car. I turn around and went back, and the dog was up and walking around (though clearly dazed). He got my front fender and both doors. Got home from the road trip and took it to the insurance inspector, and found out it was totaled. Final score: Dog, 1 - Audi, Zero...
