Got my new MCS, something odd...

I picked up my, well my wifes mcs on saturday, and I like it. However, something weird. I picked it up in Portland, but I live in Washington. Anyways, I got the standard stereo system, but I have tweeter mounts in the front pillars. I asked the MA, and he said that is strange. We checked the other MCS', and they dont have em. I tested them, and no sound from them, but weird, huh? They probably ran out of the non boost pillars. Anyways, I got the secret compartment, pretty cool, and the full jack kit. He gave me acouple of keychains, too. anyways, I plan on adding a system in the future, anyone know how to remove the tweeters? I know there are none in them now, but do i have to remove the whole thing or can I just pop off the grills? Also, the car is pretty fast, much more fun than my civic. Probably too fast and dangerous for my wife, so I think I will have to trade.
No pics for now, as my camera is far away, but it is BRG/W, with 16 bridgespokes.. Thanks.

Congrats. I see a domestic squabble brewing.

Not sure about the tweeter housings. Perhaps you could put crickets in them...no that's a Japanese thing. Hmm.

Apparently, you missed line 13 on page 57 of the contract. It plainly says that Washington residents taking cars out of Oregon are purposely fooled into thinking they got something extra that they didn't.

I haven't heard of that before. Hope everything else that's supposed to be there is. Congratulations on your new car.

Who was your MA? Larry was mine, but they all seem like decent folks at Rasmussen.

Congrats on the new MINI! Well, congrats to your WIFE!

You'll soon find that she becomes SICK of you asking for the keys to HER baby, and probably sooner rather than later you will hear the words...

.....wait for iiiiiiiiiiiiit.....

"NO, you can not have my keys, please go buy your own!"

It took 47 days for that to occur in my house...and then I trotted out and bought my own.

Peace was then restored on the homefront!

Same thing here, I have the base stereo but the pillar has the tweeter mounts. I did not even ask anything about it, just thought the same that maybe they ran out of the non-mount pillars. I wold think you would need to remove the whole pillar to put any kind of tweeter in there though.

Welcome on board! I have the Hi-Fi system and have the tweeter mounts fully functional. Maybe they started building with the Hi Fi and someone changed their mind half way through the assembly....

Yeah. Are you SURE there aren't small speakers in there? My bet is you got a $500 freebie .

Ok that is odd! Plus why the H*** does MINI keep doing this kind of thing? It is an oddity for most consumers, but little stupid crap like this can be a nightmare for aftermarket suppliers like us.

Oh well, the most important thing is you got the car, you love the car, and you MAY have gotten something extra (and or an easier way to mount some tweetys!)

Enjoy it! (Have you joined PDXMINI.org or PSMINI.org yet? They are both great groups!)

One way to find out for sure would be to go to your boot and pull off the cover on the left side panel. With the upgrade, there's an amplifier located just inside the cover.

just from listening to the stereo for a few days, definitely stock stereo. also, tried fading the front and no sound from the tweeter pillars.. I plan on adding my 5" Orion HCCA components anyways, they're new but i've had them for almost 8years... Huge crossover though...
