Rats. I'm still a couple of months from deciding on an order but I was hoping I wouldn't see any other MY/MY R56s in central Ohio. Glad you got it off the lot before I go up for a test drive sometime in a few weeks. I may have had a weak moment and taken it home instead of ordering.

Superb looking Mini. You gotta be a happy couple today. Going with the impulse buy is always something to remember. I remember my similar purchase in April. Had just about everything, plus a few extras,OK, let me drive it home! The MY is a great color, love the wheels, seats, Oak. Now my wife wants to swap her 2005 yellow Mazda 3 for one just like it now. I told her they only sold yellow in Ohio and they only came with manual trans (I don't think she bought it). Anyway get motoring through those cornfields.

Sweet ride! Very lucky that you didn't have to experience the excruciating wait. It sucks hardcore!

VERY cool! It was meant to be, I'm sure! However, there should be some penalty for not having to suffer the time, memorize the VIN number (never knew that was possible before Scoop!) and know the ASK-MINI phone number better than your own! You two are REALLY missing out!

This one had the Oak Trim and the BlueTooth Phone options added to it. We hadn't planned on getting those, but once we saw the Oak we loved it. It looked much better in person than in pictures I had seen of it. I quickly paired my cellphone to the BT in the car and cranked through all the options and found out it was actually very useful and it worked perfectly with my phone (which I never dreamed would happen).

We named him Dale, after Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks.

I could go on and on about how much I like the car, but I'd be preaching to the choir. You all know we love it.

Here's Dale.

...Really nice pictures went here...
Nice ride. If I may ask which dealer in Ohio did you go to and what was your experience?

I went to Midwestern Auto Group. Here is their MINIwebsite:
http://www.midwesternmini.com/
I had a really positive experience there. The process was completely painless from start to finish. I got a good deal, they got a good deal, and everyone's happy. If you go there on a Saturday, make sure you get there early. My wife and I got there at 9am so we could "beat the rush", and I'm really glad we did. About 11am they got extremely busy.
Ohio has other dealers in Cleveland and Mentor. I would have liked to visited them, but MAG had Dale sitting right there waiting for us, so we took him while we had the chance.

I loooooooooves me some Mella Yella !

If I was ordering an R56, I would be very tempted to get MY !

So, congrats on your lucky find and not having to develop any ulcers waiting for your MINI to go through production and the long boat ride.

I'm not sold on the oak interior yet but maybe when I see it in person I'll agree with you. But hey, it's part of what makes each MINI YOU-nique !

The oak trim is actually real wood.

Everytime I hear "wood trim" I think of my parents old '68 Ford LTD with "simulated wood trim" across the dashboard. The option for that car should have been "craptastic wood sticker". I can still remember riding around in that big boat, sliding across the vinyl seats whenever we went around a corner (seatbelts? who needs those, the dashboard will stop your momentum) and picking at the corners of those ugly wood stickers as they peeled off due to horrible build quality. I got yelled at for picking at that "wood trim" and the emotional scars have yet to heal.

That is a long winded way to say I HATE wood trim. But when I saw the oak trim that MINI has done in person, I liked it. IMO they did it the way it should be done. It blends well with the dashboard, but still stands out just enough to add a little bit of class to the fun.

sorry if I over answered your question, but I'm at work and trying to avoid having to go back to it..........

Great answer.
But now I feel bad for passing up the oak...
I was also imagining the decal variety or poly-extruded vundervinyl. The horror; the horror.

Now to get you some black stripes...

Nice MINI!

I wasn't sure about the oak trim, but went ahead and ordered it after reading some good commentary from MF. We'll see how it looks in (hopefully) a week or so!

Love the yellow roof! our mule has the black roof, but I actualyl prefer the all one color. So nice you lucked out and found "Dale" just waiting to come home with you! Wish we were all so lucky!
