The extra large speedometer in the middle...

I hardly ever look at the speedometer. I just use the digital display to check the speed. If there was such a thing that will go on the surface of the speedometer to make it non-glossy to prevent glaring, I would purchase one today. Does it ever bother anyone else? Don't say Duct tape!

I would say the OEM Factory NAV unit but I don't know how much better/worse it would be as I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear when I can take delivery on my MCSa.

And, it is a bit pricey just to cut down on glare

speedo-Chrono pak.

I think they should come back with the Chrono pak. I have an 06 with Navigation and was considering an 07/08 but I am just not into that big Speedometer. Plus I would rather look down than having to lock over.

Anyway, that is just me. If you like it, I am with you.

How about something like this? It should cut down on the reflections, but you might not like the glare.

Actually, I think there are number of non-glare films you can get for computer screens, etc.

That big speedometer was one of the reasons I changed my order and get the Nav.

I think one of the non-glare films Robin recommended would do the trick for you though.

If you have the Navigator, here is an $18, pre-cut, anti-reflective film from one of our NAM vendors. (I've been meaning to order this for my own auto for quite awhile.)

It says it fits the 03-06 product line, is the screen size the same with the R56 units?

I <3 the jumbo speedo. I think it's just one of the millions of things that make the MINI so unique!

I got used to it really quickly. My first car was an 83 CJ-7 and it's speedo was in the middle of the car just like the Mini. So the giant speedo in the middle doesn't bother me at all. It just takes some getting used to.

I just wish they gave you the option to have the nav-style speedo needle without the sat nav. I like the floating indicatior, but have no real desire to spoil the car with a tv screen.

My dream replacement speedo would include that needle. In the middle, instead of the nav screen: gauges. Maybe a boost gauge. Or water temperature, or oil pressure. Or all 3. That would be an expensive custom speedo. Heck, just put a narrow data logger output screen above the radio.

My dream replacement speedo ain't gonna be made, is it?
