R56 2007 Service Manual
It is available on MiniUSA.com. You will have to sign in to the Owner's Lounge.

Once you enter the Owner's Lounge, click on "My Mini" at the top then click on Owner's manual on the left side of the screen.
Good luck!

I don't think the unofficial manual has been updated since it originally came out (its the same version that was in my wifes 05 when we bought it used a year ago). It still shows the headlights being attached to the bonnet where you can lift the bonnet and shine your headlights up into a tree. But it is still interesting.
Yep, I keep asking about the Tech Ref Manual. BMW keeps telling me there isn't one. Then I ask how the service guys know what to set their torque wrenches to when setting the head of the new Prince engine and they sort of stammer around a bit.
I cannot get a straight answer that makes any sense.

I rather suspect there IS such a thing as "Technical Reference Manual" or whatever the service folks use, and that MINI USA may not want to give/sell to public for fear of incurring wrath of dealerships who would rather make money servicing MINIs, instead of owners doing the services themselves.
Can't see them selling cars without any kind of manual/reference for the mechanics (unless they're expected to memorize the whole thing....

Every car I have owned I have had a Technical Reference Manual. This is the first time I was not able to get one and to tell the truth. Had I known I was not going to be able to get one, I might not have bought a Mini.
It is that important to me. And it is the only thing that has put a dull edge on the otherwise wonderful experience of Mini ownership.

There are service manuals available, do a search on the Internet. I came up with quite a few links.
http://www.bentleypublishers.com/mini/index.htm

http://www.drivewire.com/miniparts/c...airmanual.html
http://www.themotorbookstore.com/min...r-manuals.html
True, the ones I've seen cover the 2002-2005 models, but it shouldn't be that much longer before new editions are available.

Im waiting for the TRM myself. Ive been calling and bugging the heck out of my dealership about it but to no avail. Its very annoying. I need the pin-outs to the stock radio so I can do my speaker upgrade. My dealership actually told me they would be happy to charge me $125 if Id like to bring my MINI in just to get that info
When I bought the Lexus IS 250, which was all new for 2006. I was one of the first buyers of that car. I went to the parts department the day I picked it up and told them I wanted to order a Technical Reference Manual.
The guy looked at me oddly. Said, "just a sec". Then turned around and tossed a new Technical Reference Manual on the counter for the car. Took me a second to pick my jaw up off the counter. Granted, I think that was just a fluke, but I have to admit, I was impressed.
Very nice manual too.

I believe that the only official MINI technical information easily available is through an online subscription such as this: http://www.minitechinfo.com/
To my knowledge, BMW does not publish technical material for the general public. Dealers get the TIS (Technical Information System) on CD-ROM. Pirated copies of TIS CD-ROMs are sold on eBay, but they only cover up to 1/2005 (after that date, BMW encrypted the discs). The minitechinfo website gives you online access to the TIS and other technical software.
The paper manual from Bentley Publishers is essentially material taken from the TIS, assembled into a book. They have not published an R56 version but I have no doubt they are working on one.

rkw,
I appreciate your help. Do you know if that information from the site is downloadable? Looks like time limited to acsess the info.
All,
I am looking for the service manual, not the owners/operators manual. I am a Tech and would like to perform all the maintaince and repairs (out of warranty, and I only recieve 2 years here overseas) myself.
I'm working on getting some more infomation from my current location, and will post when I find out.
Thank You

Don't bank on it. Owners that buy Bentley and Haynes manuals tend to be B title owners who picked up a off warranty car or lease turn in, or A title owners who are out of warranty. It'll be a few more years before there's a strong market for an R56 home repair manual. The Z3 manual took several years for Bentley to come out with. And when it finally did, it was already outdated and didn't have my 2000 M52 dual vanos engine! Any independent MINI service shops reading this have advice on getting factory manual (in English preferably).
That info has been posted in the sticky for replacing your speakers in the audio/nav section.
