Gas tank cover

Since mine is awaiting delivery and I can't seem to recall, can anyone please answer me these questions?

1. What color is the Cooper S gas tank cover......body color or chrome?

2. Is it a locking gas tank cover?

Thanks in advance!

Chrome colored plastic ,I think it locks when you lock your doors .Just tested , it locks when you lock the doors.

Thanks for the responses guys. And is the gas tank cover on driver or passenger side?

Hey, thanks for pointing out that locking gas cap thing, I didn't realize that. Very pleased about it too (it unnerves me having an accessible gas tank).

I noticed the locking gas cap when I was obsessively drying (and drying, and drying) my car the other day

Is there anything that isn't absolutely fabulous about this car?

So my MC is on order and I'm trying to justify $300+ for the chrome gas cap...
Is it really plastic? Anyone care to convince into or out of the potential expense?

Yes, it is plastic on the S. I wouldn't bother. Definitely not worth $300.
