brushed alloy?

hey, ive been lurking around for awhile on this here site and love it. if all goes to plan ill be ordering at the end of this summer. i keep goin back and forth on colors but thats a whole another story. ima stick w/ laser blue and hope for the best. but anyways onto the more pressing matters... does the brushed alloy give a god awful glare when driving? i was driving today on the worse part of our interstate and the sun hit just right on the dashboard(it has alot of metal inserts on it) and the glare was horrible does the alloy being real metal do the same? or would i be better off goin fluid silver. im sure i would love both. but the car color and the dash color are freaking hard to decide on gah! everything else was set in stone :D

No, not at all Its actually a matte type finish and no glare at all (I even have a sunroof). The brushed alloy is my favorite, Ive heard plenty of complaints about the Piano Black being easy to scratch and showing every finger print, no problems with either with the BA.

I have brushed alloy, no glare, in fact the matte finish makes it hard to leave finger prints or smudges.

Close up of trim

I guess I'm a little late in posting in this thread, but I hope these pictures help everyone get a better idea of the brushed alloy trim

Ever see the swirl marks on a black car. It's not so much that it scratches easier, well it is plastic so it will scratch easier than metal, but that the scratches show up easier.

Word of caution about the BA, it picks up lint easily if you're not careful about what you wipe it with.

I love my brushed alloy - it's got a little more rugged feel to it...as in "i don't freak out when something leaves a mark." because it doesn't leave a mark!

Piano black is great for those insane super-neat-freaks with mucho time on their hands, who wipe and wash their cars 25 times a day, and prevents scratching everywhere on the baby. Which is to say, NOT ME.

One more vote for "no glare" at all from the Brushed Alloy trim (even with my sunroof, in sunny Florida). It works very well with Laser Blue, is really good looking on the dash, leaves no fingerprints, and only picks up lint if you wipe it in the wrong direction. Wipe "with" the grain rather than against it (meaning up and down, not side to side) and you'll have no problems. The only thing I DON'T like about it is that the door rings are not the same (probably not possible due to the curve). They are just a flat/dull gray plastic matte finish - looks OK, but if not matching, would have preferred a little sheen or texture to it. The finish also marks/wears off fairly easily on the door rings, if you're not careful. All in all, I love it, just be mindful of the difference in the door rings.

3 Dog, why don't you look into dying the plastic trim door rings? I would, but my baby is still not here yet.

BA OK!

See my gallery. Options are all mentioned there. The BA dash is fine in every respect. You will not be disappointed. Also, the chromeline interior option goes nice with it imo. I've never had even one instance of sunlight being reflected in my face due to either of these options. The chrome rings do a mental trick on you... the CHROME grabs your eyes, causing you to focus on that rather than the grey plastic areas. Gives the interior a less plasticky look at a glance. The anthracite headliner blacks everything out more, making the chromeline and the brushed alloy more apparent. I kept my car pretty basic, as I wanted a performance driver not an attention grabber. I also like the anthracite headliner because it makes the interior feel "tight" (smaller?) and forces you to focus more on what's going on OUTSIDE the windows. Go with what you want and do see the options in person if possible. I made my choices strictly over the internet and have been happy with the result. I would not change one thing. The car is complex enough right out of the box, imo.

I don't quite understand how that would help. The color is OK, I just would have preferred a matching (texture), shinier, or more protective surface in that area.

I was under the impression that BA trim was not really metal, but rather faux metal.

Nope! It is METAL. The chromeline rings...those are metal. Best of my knowledge, all the other dash treatments are NOT metal.

This is with a camera flash, so basically worst-case scenario. No glare at all.

I love the brushed alloy. It's a bit rough to the touch, which adds texture.

I thought about the brushed alloy, but when I saw the stock, checked silver, I knew that was what I wanted.

Doesn't the stock checkered silver bother your eyes on the door rings? I liked it on the dash piece very much, but it felt too busy/made me dizzy on the door rings. Maybe it was just me; just curious.
