Greetings all - advice reqd

Hey

Just signed up - I'm based in the UK but all the other Mini forums don't seem as friendly and informative as this one, so hope you don't mind a new member from across the Atlantic joining in

Couple of things. My R56 MC arrives tomorrow, and I've got a couple of mods to do when it arrives.

Firstly, I've bought some 19" RSGT 5 spoke alloys for her, with 215/35/19 tyres (sorry, tires). I'm told these will bolt straight on with no arch modifications needed-has anyone on here had success with this? if so, i'd love to see a pic, as I'm having a tough time imagining how it's gonna look with the standard suspension.

which leads me to my second question - am i going to be able to lower her at all once these are on? i was hoping to go for a 30mm drop all round - can i do this by changing the springs only or do i need to relpace the shocks too?

i'm also putting some bonnet stripes on - the car is black and i've gone for a darker silver stripe set - 5" vipers with pinstripes. I'll stick pictures up when I'm done. Styling stuff for the R56 is strangely hard to come by in this country, and whatever is out there is hugely expensive (around $200 for the chrome mirror caps - is this expensive by US standards?)

cheers all,

felix

Welcome, Felix. Don't know the answers to your questions, but I can tell you, you are welcome. I am sure you will get responses from other Brits and other non-North Americans. I have a question for you: Did they move the bonnet release to the left on the UK MINIs, too?

What are your offsets on the RSGT? Since your rolling diameter is within 2% of stock, you should be a-ok if your offset is between +38 and +45, especially at stock height.

The H&R springs will drop you just about 30mm and you should be ok on stock shocks, this seems to be the most popular suspension modification going in the early stages of R56 aftermarket support and quite a few people here are running this setup. Once again, rubbing will depend on the offset of your rims.

Can't wait to see the photos.
