i wish it turned black too..that woulda been sick!

 

I keep it on amber. only time i change it is to show people that it can be changed. i've become used to amber from owning bmws so that is my preference.

 

I keep it amber because it is not as bright as the other colors, which I find distracting. Most people seem to be very impressed I can change the colors, more so than most other features

For me, it depends. I really like the blue for just driving around at night, but the orange gives just enough light that I can see non-lighted things in the car. I'm a pilot and the orange is only slightly dimmer than the red dome light that Cessna installs in most of their airplanes so you can see things like maps inside the cockpit without having to turn on a flashlight and ruining your night vision. It's downright handy for map reading at night.

And even the simple novelty of changing the colors hasn't worn off, either. It's just another one of those reasons why I really like the Mini.

 

So I finally got around to downloading pics off my camera and I found this pic. Blue ambient lighting is indeed the sh__.

 

BL-Urple! Is my choice.
When the nighttime passenger is a lady, I switch the color to something pinker, with her in the car.
It's a cool feature and 'chicks dig ambient lighting.'

Thanks, I think I actually took that photo in near complete darkness on a tripod and the shutter open for about 5 minutes . I didn't think it would be so hard to take photos of the ambient lighting. It sure doesn't look that bright in real life.

 

Blue here... (95% of the time.)

IMO... great contrast with the Anthracite Headliner. It also gives it a somewhat blacklite effect.

(Orange the other 5%)

 

thats crazy. I thought that you had modded the ambient lights to be brighter and the picture was taken with the garage lights turned on. I would not have known if you had not said.

I can't wait for my car to see what the car really looks like at night.

What are the ambient lighting areas? I lknow my drivers side has lights on the door handle, sealbelt retractor and inside the door well.

My passangerside has the same layout, except for the door well.

and I have the 2 over head near the mirror

 

Wish they had like a laser green color but as it is I run with blue.

 

I wish they had a REAL red color too. Compared to my red accent interior it looks too orange. But still love it!

 

i did blue for the first 3 weeks... now im using orange because it matches all the other lights

 

Our JCW Clubman is Red with a Black top, and I would choose to use red. But my nine year old little girl likes the Blue so BLUE it is!

 

Mine's always purple - I've got chrome line interior, so the edging on the speedo really picks up reflections from the orange dash and purple overhead. I like the contrast of the 2 colors.

 

I usually have it on orange because the blue doesn't show up much on the redwood red interior (and kind of clashes)

 

I change daily but I wish there were more colors like green and yellow.

 

That's funny...I think exactly the opposite . I think the blue is more subdued and less distracting than the orange...the beauty of the Mini!

 

They should offer a "black light" mood lighting so we can glow in the dark...it would also look awesome on any white in the interior

 

Anyone figure out how to make it brighter?? I use the orange and its too dark but the blue is bright.
