Not so funny story - as you all know, I picked up my MCSa the Friday before last. I was in heaven all day Saturday, making excuses to drive everywhere. Well...as I was setting up my drums for my Sunday gig, I bent over to grab something and I could not get back up...something in my back was radiating pain all the way down my right leg. I had to get through the gig, so they managed to prop me on the stool and I played through it. Well Sunday night it was too painful to sit or lay down, standing was the only position I could tolerate, so I spent the night standing up. Not being able to sit also meant I could not drive my new MINI , I spent the whole first week with my baby, in a half sit/lay position going back and fourth to back specialists in the passenger seat. To top it off my wife could not help but tell me how fun it was to drive, I know she did not mean to rub it in, it's just how you feel when your driving it, you all know that feeling. Well...after a week of standing, the doc's tell me it's a ruptured disc in my L4,L5 and its pressing against my sciatic nerve...they say it's degenerative disc disease and I'm only in my 30's...I had a lumbar epidural this past Friday which helped tremendously...so much in fact that I was back in the driver seat Saturday morning and loving life, I just have to be very careful. No surgery planned yet but starting Physical Therapy today...and at least I can drive myself .

During my standing stint I was able to order my first mods...jcw floormats, stubby antenna and ipod adaptor...Happy Motoring Everyone, I'm glad to hear you west coasters are close to getting your MINI's, just watch your backs !!

Sorry to hear about the back JoPo. Your MCS is looking great also, I like the floormats. I got a pretty interesting story about them stripes to tell everyone also . The wife wanted her MCS to look unique so we looked at every stripe availible we could find on the market. She finally saw the color changing stripes from AC and loved them. I wasn't so sure about how they would look but we ordered them. We recieved them about a 2 weeks before we picked up the MINI. I had talked to the General Manager of the dealership and he said no problem just drop them off and they will take care of it. I dropped off the stripes and a disposable camera and the GM wasn't in yet so they left them on his desk. I also left a note inside and outside the box. To make a long story a little shorter we showed up to pick up the car Saturday and they had the sport stripes that you see on the car now installed on the car. We explained the problem and finally everyone remembered the stripes still in the GM's office.
So they offered to either switch them or give us a check for the price of the color changing stripes we bought from AC. The good part about it is the wife likes the black sport stripes and were still not sure how the color changing stripes would look on her PW. What do you guys think?

Just got my Mini home last night. You can see a few shots with the new Mini bike rack - which I am very impressed with. It is nice and sturdy, and when it is removed (which is really easy), you only have two small black caps
The pictures were taken with my camera phone, sorry for the bad quality.

 

Wow, that rack looks awesome!!! My dealer said their wasn't a rear rack for the R56 yet! Grrrrrrrrrr.

Mind sharing how much it set you back? Is it a dealer installed item? I REALLY need one of those! LOL!

Looks like you might be able to have a body shop paint those caps and then you'd never even see 'em.

 

It was a bit steep - but I closed my eyes and signed the check. With install it was $1200. But I must say - it is worth every penny! Great idea about painting the caps.

 

My dealer said it was only the 2nd install they have done for this rack on the R56.

 

Here's a couple of pictures of SMILES and Mrs. Dash together. Getting alot of people stopping and talking MINI's now that there is 2 in the driveway. It's pretty neat!
