Does anyone actually have true numbers on whether its a spoiler (breaks up the windstream) or a wing (exerts downforce)?

If a true wing ... how many pounds of force does it put down?

For example, if you read the Loti forums, they have numbers to show an Exiges puts puts down 80 or so pounds of force over some speed.

Anybody got REAL numbers on the MINI spoiler or is it truly just bling?

I'm done reading this thread. Every other post is the same:

"TROLL!"

"OMG WUT DO U MEAN ITZ JUST UR OPINION Y DO WE HAVE TO AGREE LOLZ!!"

"ur so ignant:("

"WELL WUT DO U THINK OF BUMPERS LOL"

"OMG I LUV THE NEW DESIGN F U!! IT IZ SO SAFE AND IT LOOKS GR8!"

Hmm.. so wait, I'm "ignorant" because I don't agree with new car designs that are determined by law rather than expression, but you're not because you think they look "great." I see the logic now.

There's a point where safety precautions become pointless, too restricting, and expensive. If you're too dumb to recognize what that point is (dumb enough to even buy a car that was completely redisigned around them) then that's too bad.

I seriously thought MINI owners were cool young guys, but I guess I was WAY wrong.

I came asking a legitimate question, one I was seriously curious about and had absolutely no intention of "offending" anyone or starting a flame-fest. I guess I found my answer though, the long way, through a bunch of old tools butt-hurt about the fact that I thought their car didn't look as good as its predecessor. I didn't think it looked that bad at first, but now knowing what kind of people drive them I ****ing hate them.

Smiles for miles...

Right.

I really hope you don't generalize MINI owners by the responses
to your thread. This forum is all about expressing your opinions.
Don't take it to heart if you can help it.

And you're right, not all MINI owners are ''young cool guys''.
There are plenty of cool 'people' of all kinds. Young, old, 'mature'
male and female.
And thank goodness for that!
That's what MINI is all about. Whichever type of MINI/mini it may be.
Because MINIs come in all shapes and sizes too!

I have just read this thread for the first time and the above is the best question/comment. It seems to have put an end to the OP's participation.

But I would love to have an honest answer to that question. It really puts the OP between a rock and a hard place though because what car, other than a MINI, could he/she possibly drive that is completely above criticism? Any suggestions anyone?

However, the OP's original comment, had it been put more delicately, may have had some value. I think if the attitude were filtered out the comment was about how some laws in some other countries have affected the design of new autos. Or perhaps maybe better put the question was "how much do you think the pedestrian laws in Europe affected the ultimate design of the R56 and perhaps other vehicles as well?"

Now the OP says he would not own a MINI based on the type of people that do who have reacted negatively in this thread. Which now is why I really want to know what he drives so I know what car I should avoid buying based on his behavior.

ES, you know that it effects car design because its the law. And the laws will continue to get stricter, not looser. Not much you can do about it, IMO. Ppl can whine and complain about it but its not going to change.

I just read today that Toyota thinks by 2020 they will no longer sell anything but Hybrids.

I think the EU pedestrian laws are being used as the ultimate scapegoat and excuse for less than competent design. I could be wrong, but I think this is an interesting topic of discussion.

Hybrids are a marketing faux. In 2020 these so called green cars will be relegated to "museums" as one of the biggest fallacies in the history of the automotive industry. I see a future dominated by Hydrogen cars, ethanol and maybe refined diesels.

Had the OP phrased the question in a less insulting or degrading manner, then this thread would've been a lot more useful. However, I don't think that coming into a board not criticizing but putting down the new model of any car is the right way to enter. Even the OP's last post had much to be desired. There is no need to curse or insult anyone on any board. I think it's been shown by past threads that most of us R56 owners can definitely take criticism of the new model, but there "bashing" the R56 is really uncalled for.

I really just think he/she came in here looking to start a R53 v. R56 war and I gotta give it to the OP, he/she got some drama started

Drama in the internet can never be matched by daytime tv soap operas. You have to thank Al Gore for inventing the internets! Internets: Serious Business! Typical Internets police: Typical Internets troll:

so let me get this straight... This guy came here looking to make friends with some cool young guys (I'm sure there is a parking lot locally just full of them on a friday night) by bashing something we are passionate about? I'll bet he's got some great pick-up lines..."Hi there, I think our ugly but I've heard you handle great! Wanna go back to my place?"

I've got to be honest, I didn't care much for the R56's styling at first, and the press photos don't do it justice. But I think its growing on me and overall, perhaps its even a better car.

You have a good point. A very good point. Now I have to go watch the Suns/Spurs game. Bye all.
PS: I think the OP needs something like a restored MG Midget or a Fiat or something, maybe a Triumph. Those were cool bodies, no?

Everything okay has said was unbiased, truth and fact. (Dont worry okay, R56 owners are quite queer, like their car, and get very emotional when you call it out for what it is, i.e. fat, and cheap)

I would not bother coming to this forum and pointing out to them the car is a piece of crap, even if it's true.

You wont be able to pull the curtain off from over their eyes here. You will probably have better luck in a religious debate.

Hey Camel - at one point you promised to tell us the whole story - history lesson I think you called it - so we could all grasp your great wisdom over why the one car rocks and the other blows. I was hoping for a manifesto - come on - give over!

And speaking of the religious debate. Somebody needs to let Erik Rudolph out for a few days so he can take care of whatever clinic this abortion of an idea came out of the old fashion way.

Well before the thread gets closed I'd just like to post a link to a thread at the MiniNuts forum where some of our friends here like to cut up on the R56, the R56's designers, and Downs Syndrome children (when its convenient to bash the R56).

http://www.mininuts.com/forum/index.php?a=topic&t=710

I'm not even going to go on about what I think of this crew as on NAM we're not supposed be commenting about the people but about the cars. You can go read it for yourself and see what an upstanding group of Mini owners we have there.

And if the topic is taken down just pm me if you are curious - I'll email a PDF of it to you.

You can delete your PDF and free up some disk space. Rest assured no thread gets deleted on the NUTS.
