A mistake in the book?

My SA says there's a mistake in the owner's manual for my MCS. It pertains to the number of gallons in the gas tank, including reserve. My book says there are 13.2 gallons INCLUDING reserve; my SA says it's 13.2 PLUS reserve.

Anyone know the scoop? Anyone put more than 13.2 gallons in their gas tank? I'm afraid to try it, yet I could *use* the range!

My 05 MCS holds at least 14.6 gals, which is about a gallon more than my 04 MCS held. In both cases, the actual capacity was more than what was stated in the owner's manuals.

btw, the only car I know of which had a genuine "reserve" was the original VW Beetle which had a reserve lever. Flipping the lever caused the fuel intake to lower in the fuel tank. Pure genius!

I think the owners manual says 13.2 for the 06, but I know I've put in more than that with >30 miles to go on the Range gage.

Whoops. My mistake. The most I've ever put in was 13.1. Oddly enough, it was last week. I still stand by the >30 miles on the Rangeometer.

You're confused by a variance of .045 gallons?

The capacity stated in the manual doesn't include tank volume reserved for fuel expansion or the volume within the fill tube. For this reason, you will always be able to get more fuel into a car's tank than the manual states.

I've got an 05. I put 13.48 in just the other day and the needle was not yet on the empty line. I'm thinking there was still around 35 on the computer.

I just put in gas and it took about 13.2 gallons w/ 36 miles or so to go till empty. So I think it is probably 14 gallons but afraid to test the limits

Aye, there's the rub--who wants to be the person who finds the limit!

My last fillup consisted of exactly 13.2 gallons with approximately 37 miles left to go before totally empty. Interesting....
