MINI.com has Official Pictures of the Tokyo Concept up.

- Making of the Concept Photos - NOTE the comment that the Frankfurt Concept was converted to be the Tokyo Concept.
I liked the Frankfurt version, but this one... well let's just say this appears to be more "concept car" and even less "potential production car" than the Franfurt version...
What is with that round spot on the roof? Reminds me of a satellite or radar antenna base or something...
And that rotary phone dial thing on the lower spoke of the steering wheel?
The picnic/utility box concept is amusing, but it's about as worthwhile as the proposed MINIFini Sushi Plate
However I don't believe this to be the "death of the MINI" or anything of the sort... I think it's nothing more than a way way out there concept...

I remember back in the day when the Honda CR-V first came out, I went to the dealer to take a look at it. I asked the sales monkey to tell me about the vehicle. He proceeded to open the tail gate to show me the "neatest feature" of them all: the built in picnic table. ON A CAR!!!
Needless to say, I have never owned a CR-V.

I live in the city and see spinners all the time. I would put spinners on my car before I would put these wheels on my car. I would put a NO FEAR decal across the top of my windshield before I would put these wheels on my car.

I like those mirror caps too! Hmm wonder who will start selling custom design mirror caps?
Tea at high noon anyone... smashing!
--Haha that was exactly what I was just thinking.
Jeremy Clarkson is walking on a grass field and starts to say, " Picture yourself driving along the English countryside and suddenly you realize it's high noon and there isn't a decent place to tea within hundreds of kilometers. What DO YOU do? Not to worry. Our friends at MINI have designed the perfect solution for you!" He sits down at the Clubman and has a sip of tea.
Then he takes it for 120mph turns at their Top Gear track flying silverware and plates all over the track.

very interesting...
I love concept cars, so out there and just fun to look at. I like that the sunroof has a cover inside that matches those cool rearview mirrors!
I really like the Union Jack in the green tones, I have printed it and am going to see if I can have something similar made for my roof. I think it will be cool on the PW/B that I'm expecting in a couple of weeks! I'm ordering Wet Okole seat covers and was thinking of doing green seats for fun!

This is likely a peek at the R56 of course, but the way they've designed the bonnet & front it all needs to be one piece (like the concept) to look good... when I imagine the front end broken up by seams for bumper covers I suspect it could be a messy assembly in real life.
I just don't see them producing the entire front end clamshell like that.. plus you couldn't do any kind of aero kit unless it replaced the whole front end.
IMO it's not totally beautiful to begin with, and I'm concerned it will only get worse by necessity
