R55 Where is the ambient air sensor?
Where is the ambient air sensor?
My ambient air sensor is flaky. One day it'll be working fine and the next day it'll tell me that it's -40 out there. Guess it's time to replace it.
I've seen on line a couple of posts on replacing it but they're in different spots. One shows it behind the bumper cover that has to be removed to replace the sensor and one shows it in front of the fender liner on the right front wheel.
So where is it? 2012 Clubman S
thanks

I have a 2011 base. I was able to replace it thru the wheel well. Removed the tire then the front part of the liner. It's way in to bumper cover. Just pop it out/disconnect the electoral/ pop it back in. Getting to it was the most time consuming.
Forgot to mention, it's on the right side.

2012 Clubman S here, too. The ambient temp sensor pokes through a hole on the underside of the bumper, below the passenger side fog light. If you remove the passenger side front wheel, pop off the fog light access port cover, you'll see it down there.
To follow up. I pulled some stuff off and found that the wire had been broken and someone put some of those crimp-on connectors on it and they're obviously no good. This is why the intermittent temp readings.
So gotta get the soldering iron and shrink tubing out to do the job right. Unfortunately the soldering iron was at the other house so I have to put it back together to drive and will have to do the rapair some other time.
