Outside temperature sensor

So it's early September in Alabama and my Mini is telling me it's -40 degrees outside. I am thinking the sensor may be out or I may have a loose connection and understand i need to remove the bumper to check things out. Has anyone had any experience replacing these sensors that could give me some pointers? Does anyone know of a good place to order the sensor?

It's located behind the lower grill on the driver's side. Once you get the bumper cover off, just unplug it and plug in the replacement unit. You can get them at the dealer and they aren't that expensive. Hope this helps.

it is - bumper cover removal involves maybe a dozen fasteners, but isn't difficult.
