Replacing Outside Air Temp Sensor

Question to the forum that seems to have the best answers on the net. I finally saw a how to replace ambient air sensor video and it bent my mind. I just wanted to ask the experts, do I have to remove the front bumper (cover) to access the sensor. Can it be reached by removing the black grill middle grill?

I'm just sayin.... I find it hard to believe German engineering would make it so difficult to replace a sensor. Come on................

I managed to replace the ambient air temp sensor on my wife's 2013 R57 by going under and taking a few of the lower front bumper cover plastic clip-nut things off and bending the bumper cover down a bit, then reaching my hand in there. It was on jackstands for an oil change, so that helped a lot.

I was hoping to try that . Thanks for the response. My ambient sensor is reading 32 (on the live stream). It occasionally gives me a thermostat MAP sensor. I'm still fighting a low rpm misfire that gives a knock sensor error. Changed plugs and coil packs, replaced fuel with higher octane (91). I am wondering if the ambient affect valve body position through MAP IAC sensor.

The LCI models have the sensor in a different position than the pre-LCI models. See my post in your other thread.

It is directly behind mid grill.

Thanks, I realized I put thread in wrong forum. BTW, after opening the bottom of the bumper and looking inside, I saw sensor attaches to R side of mid grill. Sweet. Easy replacement. Germans are brilliant.
