Headliner Rattle at Front Left/Right of Front Sunroof Panel
After viewing posts on NAM, there are many reasons why rattling noises occur around the sunroof area. In my case, it was the following:
Issue: Persistent rattle noise at front right/left corners of headliner near sun visors. Occurred from vibration even on a smooth roadway or by tapping the frame surround with a finger.
Survey (below): Rattle could be dampened by pinching down at straight arrow and up at opposite point on headliner inside the car.
Problem: plastic headliner standoffs sandwiched between the headliner and plastic sunroof surround (mounted to roof of car) were unglued from the headliner. (see realoem photo below) Plastic standoffs are circled. They are glued to the topside of headliner. Adhesive had failed in my MCS, causing them to rattle against plastic roof supports for sunroof frame.
Remedy: Removed sunroof trim piece to access the standoffs and applied adhesive (with extension nozzle) between the plastic standoff and the headliner.
Prep time: Overnight (16 h) with clamping. Note: the adhesive shown works on plastic and fabric while remaining flexible/pliable.
Outcome: Rattle has ceased.
I did the tape method. As my car keeps getting older, it has become more about sorting which is the worst issue I need to address. The sun roof might be rattling, but the knocking in the suspension is the current focus.
Are you leaning towards replacing the sway bar bushes to remove that suspension knock?
no, I am pretty sure it has something to do with the KW V2 coilovers I just installed a couple weeks ago. I'll figure out where I goofed up eventually. I just replaced the rear perches with polyurethane, as the stock ones were pretty dry rotted. I also tightened the pinch bolts on the fronts. Still knocking, I will try again maybe tomorrow.

ok, the bolts that attach the camber plates to the coilover need much more torque than I applied. Tightened them up, clunk gone. Now on to the other noises
