Ok, this morning I decided to add a little bit of oil to the car just as a safety measure. Its been sitting for 2 days and I know it leaks a little bit of oil so... Anyway i started it up and drove to the end of the drive(500ft or so) and popped the hood and shut it off while I added a little oil. I put cap back on and shut the hood and now it wont start! It was just running 2 minutes prior! You can hear it try just as if you would normally push the start button but it just keeps doing that. I went back and tried starting it multiple times but I got the same situation. Help please, anyone have any ideas?? ITs a 09 S clubman
That Im not to sure of but didnt think to much of that since I just started it cold at 430am and shut it off 3 minutes later then immediately tried to start it again.

Take a look anyway. Just 4 weeks ago we started just fine for a 2 hour trip. 30 minutes in we stopped at a rail crossing so I shut it down till it passed. Gates went up but no start. What I remembered a 4 year old battery was actually seven, dead as a doornail. A nice guy got me jump started so we made the trip.
Gotcha! Weirdest thing, got home around 5 pm from work and for the hell of it tried to start it and after sitting for 10 hrs it started right up! WTH???

Makes sense to me. With a weak battery, and cold temps, you can get one good start. Normally youd be driving somewhere allowing the alternator to put a charge back into the battery. However, your battery is weak and only had enough charge to start the car once. Batteries will bounce back a little if you let them sit, and if they get warmer.
Not surprised it started when you got home.
Change or charge the battery. Verify the alternator output is approx 14.4 volts. These cars are sensitive to batter conditions.
