Front suspension or steering problem, shudders

So after hitting a pothole one too many times, my R55 has developed a "road holding" problem. In fact the first time I hit a pot hole, the passenger side tire went flat! Had to be replaced. This has happens twice in the past 6 months. Two tires replaced, same front passenger side.

Problem:
When I hit a road bump with the passenger side tire, the car shakes side to side...like a shudder....and has to be corrected quickly using the steering wheel. It is worse when I am on an exit or on ramp and turning....car almost feels out of control then. Also, the bump results in a sharp thud sound.

If I hit a similar bump with the driver side tire, it does nothing.

I lifted he front of the car (on two floor jacks) and tried to shake the front passenger wheel side to side or up and down, but I cannot feel any play. Looking underneath it, nothing seems to be broken. What should I check?

Could it be a suspension or a steering problem?
Do these cars have a steering damper?

From your symptom description, I recommend you have a tire shop evaluate it immediately.

Sometimes bad ball joints have to be pryed just-so, to check them.

Please play it safe & have it checked out.
