2008 Mini R56 Seat belt sensor digital or analog?

My 2008 mini is having the famous passenger seat Mat sensor problem. Since I am over the maximum mileage, of course the dealership won't fix it under the current warranty. We are installing an emulator to ensure the deployment of the airbag if needed. However, we are still having trouble getting the airbag warning lights off. A technician told us that the emulator may not be communicating the same way with the other sensors and so the read is not what it wants to see. Does anyone know if the seatbelt Sensor is analog or digital? This might help us in our troubleshooting. Thank you

The passenger seat mat sensor is digital. It has a microcontroller and communicates with the airbag module over a digital bus.
