Semi-local NC car but Carfax doesn't show service history(?), but clean with no wrecks and such.

Considering this and wondering if anyone knows the original owner?

Has MINI/Dragon decal under side scuttles, scan guage mounted behind steering wheel, pretty stock inside, with charcoal colorline.

Just wondering if any other mods have been made (tune, susension, ect.).

Any help would be appreciated.

At first look, it has suspension Mods, it's riding lower than the JCW suspension.

I thought so too but I've never had a JCW so wasn't sure. I'm just confused about the CarFax not showing any service work as this car was obviously cared for(?).

I noticed in your sig it says "Stage 1". Were there different stages and if so how would I know what Stage this one is?

From the location of the JCW badge on the front lower grill, this appears to be a FACTORY JCW Clubman.

Mine is a factory Cooper S Clubman with the JCW stage 1 tune. MINI only did a stage one tune for these cars.

A FACTORY JCW is more desireable, more HP and a different suspension setup. Outside of that, same car.

Yea, looks like a factory JCW, grille badge, body kit and JCW brake tell it so.

If you have the last 7 digits of the VIN i can find more info.

Clubmans in the f JCW are rare.

Go with the owner to the dealer and have them pull up the history on the key fob.

It's a one-owner car on a used car lot. Maybe I can borrow a fob and take it to the dealer.

It has 72K on it and asking price is $13,625. Seems a bit high to me - thoughts?

Thanks everyone!

The key fob does not carry the car maintenance history according to the service adviser at my dealer. They need to just plug in the Vin or other id info into system.

Just have a PPI (pre purchase inspection) done at an independant MINI specialist nearby. Or a good-trusted mechanic.

The price can vary, but a $100-$300 now can save you $$$$ down the road. Ask the mechanic to list any non-factory parts out. He may not know them all, but he can at least give you his presumptions.

I always call and "interview" my inspection spots first. What do they do in an inspection? Will they send me detailed pictures of their findings, and of the underside of the car. etc etc.

No indy shops around here, but I do have a good friend that's an indy mechanic - he's just not familiar with MINI's(!).

Much appreciated input though.

Ain't that the truth!! I've been trying to find one myself. Either they don't have xenons or auto air or both. To make it worse, my knees want me to get an auto. Need some luck with that.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but all factory JCW's have manual gearboxes. I believe the only way to have an auto in a JCW is to have the dealer installed JCW package, which from what I've read here, is a very watered down version of what comes from the factory.

Wow....didn't think that to be the case. How about this one? When I look it up, it shows JCW. Am I wrong in reading it that way? However, there are discrepancies. The car is an auto as friends of mine have driven it. The pics show auto. The link I pasted says manual but the vin on bmwvin shows auto. Weird. This one is intriguing to me but the lack of xenons is kind of a deal breaker.

MINI added the automatic option in 2013+ JCW's. For the hardtop that means the only year you can get automatic JCW is 2013. Everything else has a couple more years to choose from.

Also tallgntlmn, I would definitely wait for a JCW with xenons. The JCW is the top-tier MINI (and should come with xenons standard...) and it would be worth waiting to find one with more bells and whistles. I'm planning on keeping my JCW for many many years (even though I said that about my last MINI) so I was looking for about 10 months for the perfect one and it finally came around.

I didn't buy a Factory JCW in 2010 because it was NOT available with the automatic transmission. I ended up with a COOPER S and added the JCW tuning kit. Definitely NOT the same car, but I am VERY pleased.

I agree on the waiting for xenons. My 2011 R55 has them and I cannot see hardly at all at night when driving my fiancée's SUV with halogens. When I bought mine, manual with xenons were my only real requirements with everything else being nice. If it was an easy swap, and I hear both ways, I would considering swapping them.

The only JCW I have ever driven was an absolutely loaded 2015 F56. I got to drive it on NC 28 from Fontana to Robbinsville. A buddy actually let me do that. He wouldn't let me drive it on US 129 though. What fun!
