Used Clubman Prices

So I curiously check Craigslist every once and a while just to see the local market value of my 2011 S. Anyway, for some reason, recently, there has been several really over priced R55's in the Denver area.

LINK

It seems to me that only a few are priced correctly (mostly the cars from dealerships)? There is a 2008 S w/ 115k miles for $13k...is it made from gold? KBB has a price of around $7.5k on it. I get the point that people take great pride in their cars, especially MINI owners, and you price on CL to get lowballed, but...yikes!!!

Am I wrong? ....and is this going on all over the country? Is it because the new model is so much different?

I have no idea what mine is worth because prices seem to be literally all over the place. I'm on the West coast. I guess it depends on the packages that are on the car?

Lots of them are priced just about right, too. Some are priced at the 'I don't really don't want to sell it' price.

MiniEnvey, come join our MINI5280.org MINI Club, and MINICow!

I think our MINIs took a hit when the 4 door MINI came out. I do the price check about once a month on a couple sites. I have noticed CarMax gets very few in stock, does not negotiate on price, and asks about Edmunds' retail price. And that Edmunds' is considerably higher than KBB and NADA. KBB no longer (unless I am doing it wrong) has option to pick Clubby.

Generally, for my base Clubby no sun roof but leather sport seats 13,500 miles June 2015, Edmunds/KBB/NADA agreed at ~$18000. Today, April 23 2016, with 21,000 miles Edmunds says $16,200, NADA $14,700 (*had error of 12,025 before just correcting) and looks like at dealers it is about $13,000. So Edmunds is the outlier data point now.

My local dealer offers a link to compare the price of the car for sale to the market asking price of other comparable cars. Check this out for a base clubby. I don't know if it comares are base to S though.

For a little perspective I just bought a 2011 Clubman S for $13,300.
It has 57600 miles, auto, premium pack, white silver paint, Mini Connected, roof rails, HIDs, 17" pace spoke wheels, and the white turn signals.
I felt I got a good price based on the condition and mileage. It also came from a dealer and in my research I paid about average price for it.

I will get back into MINI5280 at some point, I've just been lazy about it. I had been a member back in 2008-09 when I had my R56. There are some rides and events that interest me this year.

I bought my 2011 R55S from Schomp almost 2 years ago and I did look at the realdeal.com comparisons which I think only compares cars at other dealers. Also, the cars they had used as a comparison I couldn't find on the market...so I'm not too positive how it works. I actually still have the PDF Real Deal report on my car.

KBB still offers pricing for the Clubman...it is how I came up with the comparison for the 2008 S w/115k miles that I singled out. And after just checking, it looks like KBB, NADA and Edmunds are between $5200-$7200 with Edmunds being the lowest for that car. This definitely looks like the "I don't really want to sell" price at around twice the suggested private party value. It still seems to me that if it isn't for sale through a dealership then its over priced (except for maybe a few), which should be the exact opposite. I guess I shouldn't complain if the market bares a higher value than that of the suggested values put out by the appraisal sites. I hadn't checked craigslist in other areas and just wondered if this was just a fluke or if the same values are being seen everywhere?

Thanks! It's a great color; on bright days it appears to be almost like a pearl white. On overcast days it looks like a light matte grey.

2011 Clubman 15000 miles auto and loaded, 14,000.00. Purchase date 11/11/15. I had a 2003 C240 Mercedes trade and got 4000 for that so a OTD Price of 10,000. very happy so far but I always feel like I am looking over my shoulder for mechanical issues after reading many posts on this forum

We bought our 2011 Clubman S in 2013 w/ about 22k miles on the clock and the remainder of the factory warranty, factory maintenance, and CPO 6yr/100k warranty. We paid about $21k for the car using 0.9% interest from Mini.

Doozie I also have paid over what a car "is worth" a couple cars because it was the one I wanted. Glad you found one you are passionate about!

I got my 2013 Clubman S Sport Package 6spd in October w/ 15,800 miles for $16,750. Around this area they seem to sell under book by quite a bit. Clubmans are pretty rare in my area.

After a few years away, I'm returning to the fold. I'm picking up a 2008 Clubman S with 69K on it this weekend. I might be slightly overpaying at $9800, but it is a combination of colors and options that I want.
  • Hot Chocolate exterior
  • Hot Chocolate leather interior
  • 17 inch 5 spoke wheels with nearly new Michelins
  • 6 speed
  • Limited Slip!
  • Comfort Access
  • Xenons
  • heated seats
  • Sliding sunroof and much more

I'm in the ATL area, and there are other local Clubbies for sale for less, but some have higher mileage, and some are lower optioned. The Comfort Access and Limited Slip are big check-marks for me.

Car looks nearly perfect, and has a clean two owner Carfax with lots of service entries

Sounds like a stunning car! Love the hot chocolate exterieo, and interior is one of my favorites too. Congrats! I do the same, if it is the car I want I'll pay a little more, thus happiness!

The Clubman on my desired list is a rare one indeed. I'd love to find a 2013+ JCW auto with xenons. That combination is very rare. There is one close without xenons but that feature is a must have for me and was back when I bought my 2011.

The Clubman I am likely shopping for is a 2012+ S with less than 40k miles in an auto with xenons.

Found a 2014 S with 30k and drove it over the weekend. They want $19.5 which I think is about $1500 too high. There was another guy interested. I don't know if I should pull the trigger or wait on that elusive JCW.

brown metallic with black roof and hot chocolate/white piped leather 08 Clubman S with 78k miles, 6 speed, and every single option in gorgeous shape, cost us 8k (partly because the dealer literally forgot to take the second half of our down payment, was asking 9k.)

You'll be fine. The base Clubman never had any serious engine problems, and 2011 was the mid-cycle model refresh year when they fix all the screw-ups from earlier.

I traded my 2012 base Clubman with 23k miles and only leather seats option getting $10,800. I bought a 2011 S Clubman with 15,300 miles. for $13,750. It has Winter packege, Harmon Kardon, driving/rally lights, xenon with black inner housing, roof rack, extra set of 17" wheels with like new Blizzack snow tires, and rubber floor mats. Now it is me looking over my back for expensive repairs lol. Hmm oil feed line, HPFP, Oil filter housing, what was I thinking!

EDIT: Spoke to seller after the sale. He said there were no other interested people in the Clubman. I have seen at least 3 Clubbies just sit on the lots dropping in price:

2012 S, 28k, went from $16,700 to $14,500 last check
2010 S, 78k, now 11,400
2008 base, 66k, $8900
2009 S 82k, $8200

I wholesaled my 2012 base with only leather sport seats nothing else 23k miles for [EDITED TYPO TO $10,800] 10,800 because I saved $800 or so on taxes for purchase, so effectively $11,600. Did not think I could do much better selling watching the market here. The car I bought (see above) had a wholesale offer of $12,500.

I am looking to sell mine and would love pricing suggestions. When i looked at KBB, i was shocked at how low it was.
2011 Clubman in BRGII with Black roof. 25XXX miles. It has lots of options. I will find my windows sticker and report back.

I would use KBB as a guide. KBB for mine was 14,020, NADA was 14,925, and Edmunds was 16,618. I bought for 13,750 on a car private party listed at $15,400. Seller said I was the only interested person. Whole sale was about 12,500 which is what a broker offered to seller. This is 2011 S Clubman with WInter packege, sunroof, driving lights ($1300 option), Harmon Kardon, maybe a bit more. In summary, KBB for price guide. And yes these Clubbys dropped in price. I attribute it to the 4 door models, but I could be wrong.

I use this link to find local ASKING prices for Clubbys. It might be that if you set your zip code you will get them locally for where your are too:

http://www.edmunds.com/mini/cooper-clubman/for-sale/

Best of luck!
