R55 Headliner Buzzing
Headliner Buzzing
I was afraid of this, when I got my new clubman it had stains in the headliner, so they removed one from another on the lot and installed, quite the task as it has to come out the windshield.
Now when driving about 65-70 I get a buzz , can't narrow it down because if I touch it most anywhere it stops. Near the dome lights or overhead console it stops.
Anyone else ? It took a year to start this.

Interesting that they couldn't pull the headliner out the rear.
We had a buzz in the headliner of our R50. I could push up in the front of the headliner and it would stop. I ended up dropping the front of the headliner and found 2 missing plastic clips on the front of the trim that goes around the sunroof opening. They were similar to door panel clips. I looked at the diagram for the R55 and it looks like there are two foam pieces in front and rear of the dome light. I wonder if the foam has adhesive that holds the headliner to the roof. You might pull your dome light and see if that is the case. Also check the trim around the sunroof openings.

I don't have any sunroofs. And apparently the liner don't fit out the back doors, not with out folding and I guess they just followed the manual to do it. But I'm under warranty so the next time in I'll have it looked at.
Its the plastic in front of the sunroof. Remove the visor and the sunroof surround and put some felt tape on the top and bottom of the plastic piece. Have done many of these. The glue is not sufficient and separates over time
Well, I have the buzz with less than 2K on the clock. It's to the left of my head near my left ear while in the driver's seat. The road surface seems to dictate how bad it gets. The run flats probably don't help either. It is intermittent and when I press on the area it stops. I'm reluctant to have the dealer address it for fear it will be worse when I get it back. I wonder how the dealer would address this?

I just had this fixed under warranty on my 2012. They claimed the factory left off felt tape around some trim pieces. They also glued the plastic trim around the sunroof but I don't think that made a difference. The noise mine made was behind the plastic trim on the headliner where all the switches, etc. are. I know this because if I pressed on that panel while driving it went away. Release pressing and it came right back. Anyway, my car is now nice and quiet so I'm happy.
Mine seems to be temperature related also. We hit 80 degrees here today. I left it on the driveway a few hours. Doesn't take long for the black roof to heat up. Took her for a spin and was dead quiet.
