I have the stock metal heat shield on mine but plan to add the nm titanium one as well. They also make heat shields for the hood to help keep some of the heat from doing any damage. I know nm and way motor works has them which I plan to get as well. I used to have an eclipse that gave off crazy amounts of heat and I did the same thing to the hood and it seemed to help

I prefer to block the heat from getting to the bonnet, not so keen on the idea of trapping heat in the engine.
Yes I have seen that. Right now I just added some self adhesive heat shield just in front of the scoop to cover the area not covered by factory shield and it's now 138F max and avg is about 120F , much better as I was reading 165F to 185F before, now you can actually feel the heat escaping out the scoop, it measures about 210F but the heat is leaving and I like that. Not worried much about melting as with 200 miles on my car got alot of warranty left
