Possible new owner needing some help
Looking at a well equipped 2009 Clubman JCW. Car is extremely clean, with the exception of needing nav disk. Problem 91,xxx miles with no MX records. Can a dealer use the vin to pull up the records? What are the big MX items. Red flags? I can get the car for 13200, about $15,000 after tax and bs fees. What's your feelings? Thanks for any help.
WE bought our Clubman S with 93.8K miles . Now we got full service records etc with ours.
Id take it in and have a full pre purchase check up done. Milage never worried me , as long its been serviced . They are great little cars..

Have a purchase inspection scheduled at a BMW shop ( not Dealer). Didn't know what they can find out about missing service work without records.

Like the other said, get a preinspection done. Also have a MINI dealer run the VIN to make sure all recalls and TSB were done. Also IMO get the longest extended warranty you can afford, because unfortunately it will pay for itself in the future.
So, what did you decide? I am looking at about the same scenario. I am quite curious about what they looked for even what they found. BTW where is this car? Maybe it's the same one I am looking at!

Had a local BMW shop check it out. They ran a vin check and pulled up its history. Everything had been complied with. Test drove it, and then did an inspection of general condition and safety items. Didn't dive into the power-train much, not that you can. Mentioned that didn't seem to have an issue with the timing chain tensioner, and the didn't need to have the valves de-carboned. Did find that the front lower control bushings were getting some play in them and would eventually need replaced. Over all checked out fine. We bought it and have been happy. I did purchase a Nav DVD, but have yet to get the nav to work. Not sure if its me or the unit.
