Justa catalytic converters

My local mechanic thinks my catalytic converter honeycomb is breaking up internally. My Justa has 90 K on it. In addition, my heat shield is broken and the rattling is very annoying. Two questions:
1. Has any Justa owner used a Magnaflow exhaust header/catalytic converter and your opinion of it?
2. Is there a need or requirement to using the heat shield?

Any comments/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What year is your MINI? Most emissions have a long warranty past the standard car warranty. So before spending money I would check into it.

08 Justa catalytic converter

My Justa is an 08. Warranty expired at 80 k or so the dealer told me. That was one of the first things I checked. Mini dealer wants $2k, $1200 for the catalyst and the remainder for labor. The Magnaflow is $600-700. Thanks.

Check the laws in your state, i know in CA they are crazy strict about what converters you can use. If the converters have the same cells per inch or whatever the measurement is then flow should be equal. No experience with that cat, but it should be fine. And I would keep the heat shield in
