How Much to Pay for this Clubman?
Hi Everyone,
Long (and I mean really long) time lurker. I am finally serious about getting into the game. I joined the site long ago to research R53 Cooper S hardtops. After marriage, two kids, and moving to the 'burbs I am now looking at purchasing a Clubman S. I need some help on pricing. I'm looking at the following: http://www.billjacobsmini.com/Vehicl...-IL/1991492293
It looks like it has cold weather, xenons, pano roof and the upgraded wheels (were those part of a package in 2012?). I can't tell if it has sport (i'm trying to get more detailed info from the dealer). Any opinions about the price? Thanks for your help and looking forward to becoming part of the family.

Definitely go for this! I have a somewhat similar Clubman S 6 speed - only difference is mine is the 50th Anniversary Hampton and it is fantastic. For what you are getting the price looks good also! Good luck!

Clearly a local car for you, but I would do a search online. I recently "totalled" my Clubman and before I found out that my insurance company covered a brand new model, I was looking for a 2012 with low miles. Found a 2012 Clubman with Sport, Premium 2, chrome line interior, leather seats, automatic, wood dash, xenons, Harmon Kardon sound, armrest, only 8000 miles, etc for only $25,900. It was in South Carolina and I'm in Milwaukee, but I'd have made the trip for it since the color was one I liked. It sold in short order as my parents were interested about two weeks later and it was gone. I almost wish my insurance didn't cover a new car because I was so excited to find a used one that cool. So do a search.
I found this one:

Just found it on a quick Autotrader seach. Here's what it has from the description and from what I can tell from the photos: Premium, JCW exterior (maybe interior too!?!?), Technology package, chrome line interior, Harmon Kardon sound, xenons, aero kit, roof rails, parking sensor, free GPS (lol), satellite radio, climate control, mirror caps and rearview mirror cap are easy to replace... Heated seats, so probably Cold Weather as well. Anyway, looks to me a MUCH better deal. That's at minimum a $35,000 car new, quite possibly $36,000.
Of course it all depends on what you want and buying local will probably be more convenient, but do a search if you've got time. And note the car I linked. It's at a Honda dealer. They actually seem to know a lot about it, but I've found that some of the non-Mini dealers don't price them too well and don't always get the options right. Hell, I just found a Countryman a few weeks ago for my Dad. It was WAY below Blue Book, but about $6000, and a week later the price went up. Same car, but the price went up. Here the dealer had changed. The dealer who had it listed initially didn't note the $2000 leather seats, they said they were leatherette. So presumably this other dealer, just 75 miles or so away, came and got it and marked it up $2000. Still a good deal even now.

Yea I think it's a fair price for the year, options, and mileage. Plus it's almost brand new in the warranty department and I'm sure you could probably get them to make it a MINI NEXT CPO if it isn't already.
Pretty fair price on the vehicle...but I would definitely think you could get it down a little bit further. It's decently optioned out, but I would say it does not have the Sport Pkg...as I don't see DTC listed (Dynamic Traction Control) listed. The sport seats/steering wheel are standard on S models, so those aren't an identifier.
My only qualm with this car would be the interior...the tan headliner (instead of anthracite) and leatherette seats namely. That's just my taste though. At least it has a 6-speed though. When I was looking to test drive a Clubman, I couldn't find a single 6-speed on a dealer lot in the Chicago area.

Wow - more great feedback.
sdiver - you have a sharp eye - I didn't even notice the headliner. I think I'll need to see it in person to see how it works. On one hand it might brighten the interior a bit. However, with that much greenhouse, I doubt it needs it. That contrast of light on dark could look a bit off.

Here's a list of Clubman S MINIs for sale within 100 miles of Chicago (including the one you are looking at).

That being said, in my Indi Blue 2003 MINI, I have the light gray headliner (it was before they offered the anthracite headliner), and I have never minded it. On the Kite Blue Clubman I test drove, it had the tan headliner with black leatherette seats...it wasn't awful, just didn't look right to me.
Regardless, it is still a VERY sharp looking car. Keep us posted
