Mini Bought, need headlight help

Hello all,
I just bought my wife a 2010 mini clubman S and so far we only have one complaint, the headlights. She is coming from a hid jeep and the clubman has standard bulbs. I have read that it is a pain to switch out the not hids to the xenon due to you needing to do something with the computer. What is the best bulb to switch in there to give off the most light without doing the swap. If you have before and after pics please post them. Thanks in advance.

Correct, if you want to complete a HID swap, you have to change settings via a NCSExpert software package to accept the HID power requirements.

Osram Silverstars, or Piaa bulbs are good choices.
Make sure the wattage is the same as you don't want to create electrical current increases that can fry wiring.

Great thanks Erik. For future reference, where would I find that software pkg? Would I have to have a dealer install and set it up?

Spend an hour and read through all the provide detail here:

No, the dealer does not typically support it; it's a self-DIY type project.

oem hid color temp is 4100-4300K

look for replacement lamps of the same color temp

i found GE NIGHTHAWK PLATINUM 9006/9005 bulbs on sale on amazon for $19.95/pair for my p/u truck

they are brighter and whiter than the standard 9005/9006

i had to do something after motoring behind my cms all4's hids
