Every time i meet new people and friends the first thing they will say to my car is " wow thats cute" i'm so not happy people saying that to my car. Is there a better way of addressing this issue about having a cute car. I would agree that the original hatch is cute cuz it is small but men this is a bigger mini its a clubman.

 

What's wrong with having a cute car? Minis are endearing. It's all part of their charm.
You know what's on the inside, so why not indulge others and let them appreciate your clubman's appeal? I do. But maybe that's because I'm a woman!

I'm just going to put it to you straight, no offense intended: If that bothers you, buying a cute car was a bad choice. I get it now and then. I don't love hearing it, but it doesn't bother me, either. I'm honestly indifferent at this point. I don't know why people feel the need to single out the owners of interesting cars, and make uninvited comments. They usually drive really boring commuter type cars. My thinking is that they went the safe, expected route, and they are really tipping their hats to you, for making an interesting choice.

 

My mini is always called "cute". I have owned many cars,some more expensive.I never got this much attention. I am loving the attention we (my mini and I ) get.

 

Welcome to NAM. I don't know your gender, but if you are a male, then you are evidently secure and mature. I don't think as many women have this issue as we guys.

 

I'm quite happy to drive vehicles that are like Jennifer Anniston.... that perfect combination of seriously cute and extremely hot.

 

If you wish to meet chicks you take a puppy to the park, right?

Most people don't intend to insult you by calling it cute - particularly women. As long as people keep it positive

 

I totally understand, and I'm a girl... I want a cool aggressive-looking car. So I'm dechroming and putting black wheels on it to go with my black top.

A note for those who like the chrome... I'm not putting down chrome; I think it works great if you're going for a classy look. And classy never goes out of style

Girls say it's cute. Some guys say it's a "girl car." It's just how it is. I tell girls "thanks!" and I tell guys who rag on it that 1) it'll beat your pick'emup truck/grocery getter/minivan (if they drive an SUV.) around a corner, and is infinitely more enjoyable to drive, and 2) I don't need a big car, 'cause I've got a big..

 

I had to use the "it's cute" reasoning to get my plate from the DMV as the lady at the desk needed an explanation for my wanting of this particular custom plate. I explained (begrudgingly) it was cute and everyone should give it a kiss.

 

Think of it this way. Your car is unique enough that it warrants a comment. How many people drive a car that does not get a first look, or a second look, let alone a compliment?

I used to think Minis were cute, before I researched and adopted one, so I don't mind the "cute" comment. "They" just have no idea, and I believe they mean it as a compliment....although mine is "cute" in a sexy, cheeky, mean, cool, slick way..yea, that's it...

2. Go back to driving your MINI
3. Appreciate that you're getting "cute" comments instead of "gay / hairdresser / whatever" ones.

Or just ignore it and enjoy your car.

Full disclosure: on my 2nd MINI, 3rd Miata, married with one kid (working on a second) and no pool boy.
