Painting my OEM wheels....?

i am thinking about painting my OEM wheels because i have NO extra cash these days and i want black wheels badly! When i finally get the wheels i want then the painted wheels will becaome winter wheels. has anyone painted their wheels and do you have any advice? found a guy that sells what seems to be a great kit to paint them and have it last but i thought i would get some "MINI family" input!

Have them powder coated. They will last much longer, look better, and probably cheaper to do. A guy local to me did 4 motorcycle wheels for $150. Vanguard Industries if you Google them. Jimmie Cane can help ya out. They are located in Clemson, SC but I'm sure you could find a local guy to you.

Powder coating probably requires that you remove the tires from the wheels, whereas there are folks on this site who have rattle-canned their wheels with tires affixed.

I powder coated a set on my mr2 myself in the garage. It required a blast cabinet, an oven and a pc gun, but, over the years I have done lots of wheels with great success. Yes, the tires must be removed but I have a standing deal with the tire shop next door to the office. I bring the car in in the late afternoon. They remove the tires and I take the wheels home over night, returning them coated in the morning. Pc is great stuff.

I'm not a fan of black wheels, but to each his own. You could go to a farm supply store and get a couple cans of soft black plow shear paint. Paint over the original finish without sanding. That way if you don't like it you could remove it with some solvent. It won't be permanent, but it would be easy to go back to the original finish.

I'm pretty sure folks on here have used plasti-dip. Won't last forever but it's cheap!

Plasti-Dip is great stuff. Completely reversible. BRGs with Black wheels are hot.

unless your racing quick is never the best if you want it to look gook take your time and sand it if you go to a auto paint store they can mix the color in a rattle can and you can spray them in your drive way any color you want and they will look good.
