I just got my new 2012 Clubman, and I ordered the car in black, with the Hampton Package, and black rims..
The car arrived with navy blue rims and the dealer is trying to tell me that THAT is the "black" that the package refers to.

Anyone else order this car in black w black rims and have this issue?

I don't think(?) that the Hampton wheels came in anything except silver or black. You sure they don't just look navy blue relative to the black paint?

Though I see your point -- black should be black (not almost black).

 

I agree. I thought the same exact thing. These wheels 100% Dark Navy Blue. The center cap is the reddish color, the ring around the cap is BLACK, and that black ring really shows the navy blue color of the rims. I'm in the process of finding out what's going on, but the black car with blue rims looks really really tacky..

 

I'd be mad also. Black is Black......Especially if your going for the look....

On miniusa.com it clearly says "black". I'd make them give you black Challenge wheels for the deception......Thats if you like the challenge wheels.

 

The issue is that the wheels are part of the Hampton Package. I'm sure i can get black rims, but i want black HAMPTON rims.. Worse case, I want black rim replacement, and i get to keep the navy blue ones for resell value etc.

 

See if they will powder coat them black......

 

I'm going in tomorrow to figure it out. They forgot my driving lamps, mud flaps and bumper protector, so I'm getting that stuff installed anyway.
I'll report back with details.

 

The dealer is correct on the Hampton Edition wheels; those wheels are designed with the intent of the Reef Blue and Black exterior color.
If you look at all the press photos and the releases for the Hampton, you'll clearly see the 'black' wheels are "blue hued" to match the uniqueness of the special edition.

Like or not, you really did get what you ordered. Hope you can swap out for what you want.
But I don't think the dealer / MINI will cave and give you another set of wheels without an exchange (swap) or payment (extra) wheels.

It's probably black with a blue pearl or metallic. I haven't seen them in person but that's what it sounds like.

 

Went to dealer today. The Mini rep happened to be on site. She, along with everyone else, confirmed that the wheels are, in fact, blue and not black as ordered.

They are in the process of correcting, for free.
