WMW Project Clubman

WMW recently came across a deal on a wrecked 08 MINI Clubman S. So with all the stuff I have to haul and errand running we thought it would be great to make it a project to fix up, mod and test some parts on.

Looking at the pics the MINI was wrecked and considered a total loss. It was hit pretty good in the front. The damaged parts included Radiator, A/C condensor, bumper cover, bumper support, core support, electric water pump, electric fan, headlights, hood, grille, driver airbag, seat belt tensioner, and hole in the bell housing of trans. We have parts and will be putting it together ASAP. Hopefully I won't have to send it to Mark to get the frame straight, It looks good but I won't know till we get it going back together.

Very exciting. What does a car in this condition sell for? What put the hole in the bell housing? The damage at first glance isn't too horrible, but add a few body pieces, a few pieces of electronics, and airbag stuff I bet it could quickly add up to fix.

What are you doing with the headlights? I am very interested in them if you are replacing them.

When it was hit the electric water pump was smashed into the trans causing the hole.

Easy fix cars like this seem to be $12k+ on ebay, but I got a deal, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford it.

Right now I will be reusing the headlights. I will need some glue and epoxy, but just too expensive to replace right now.

Pic Update, we completed installing the new front bumper support, rad, core support and have this pretty Mellow Yellow bumper fitted. Now for some paint and a new hood

New hood installed and fitment checked. Some paint and adjusting will be required.

The blue, yellow, black, silver is working out good. Keep it that way. Jk lol.
Looks like it's coming together fairly well and won't need any frame straightening

I'm really interested in what you guys are going to do to it once the bodywork is done. What parts are you planning on testing first?

Update

So I've been driving the clubman and enjoying it. I ended up doing the entire timing chain update just to be safe as it will be getting much more power soon. First mods are done:
Delete seat belt warning for pass seat
one touch sunroof
remote close windows
remove TPMS, so I can install my other wheels

More to come as I have boxes of stuff all over the place, but will be doing dyno tests before each mod so we can provide more data to customers.

Awesome how you find these cars. A Clubman and a JCW GP.

Very cool project. Doesn't look too bad of a repair. I was waiting to see somebody do a Clubman journal.

I'm sure you guys will do a hell of a job. Bought a few things from you before, great service.

I can't wait to get mine programmed as well. This local guy did the X5 and M3 and really made it even better.

Any reason you guys didn't go with the JCW front? Or just had that bumper laying around?

I didn't use the JCW bumper cause of cost, and I had a stock bumper here that just needed paint. I was trying to do it cheap.

Today I installed my scangaugeII so I will have a coolant temp gauge, WMW short antenna, and programmed the alarm light to flash even though I don't have an alarm.

That scangauge is awesome. Where did you guys install it? I would definitely like to buy one but I'd like it to look at least kind of integrated.

I put it in the left corner of the dash as I like to use it for a speedometer. Many other people put it under the toggle panels.

Sweet thread WMW!! I'm following this one... I have a new '12 Clubman S and looking forward to the mods and results you get (please keep it honest!) as I put together a plan for modifying/upgrading my Clubman. Thanks!

Installed a Cravenspeed Shift **** and Ebrake handle this week. I did it for the bling factor, but have to say the **** has really improved the shifter feel.
