R55 Remus Racing Exhaust for Clubman S Review
these exhausts are expensive. i am wondering if it is not wiser to upgrade to a Stage1 JCW. i know it is around $1700 to $2000.00 for it, but, you will get so much more. $850 to $1200 for an exhaust it just does not make a whole lot of sense.
any opinions on Stage1 vs. Remus or any other expensive exhaust system?

Just curious as to what the sound difference would be with this exhaust versus a 2012 factory ordered JCW car? Doesn't the factory JCW come with a different exhaust from a MCS?
And since it's cat/axle back it doesn't affect any turbo pressure, etc?
Thanks, as I am new to this forced induction stuff....

I have done quite a bit to modify my 2008 Clubman S (Helix FMIC, Koni Yellow Struts, NM RS Alpha Springs, HSport Rear Lower Control Arms, 17x7" Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2, H-Sport Sport Anti-Roll Bar, DDM Street CAI, M7 Turboshield, Carbotech pads). However, I still had to live with the factory exhaust sound and performance.
I first tried the NM Cat-back exhaust and will well made and good looking it was a more aggressive sounding system than I wanted. I then spoke with my fellow THMMC member and friend SLIMJIMTELL and made contact with Remus Racing's U.S. contact Duffy Collin. He showed me a series of options for axle back systems for my Clubman S. I chose to buy the newest model of the Remus muffler-back systems known as the Remus Street Power-Sound Race Exhaust. Once the Remus system arrived, I removed the NM system, had the factory system welded on and then had the Remus system installed. I then sold the NM system on NAM's classified section (thanks NAM).
With the Remus system, I was not necessarily looking for a great performance gain but combined with the new intercooler and the CAI I wanted to add some performance and a much better sound. But the new carbon fiber inlaid tips still looked so nice.
In this thread, SLIMJIMTELL has previously described the Remus pedigree so I won't repeat the details here. Installed, they look awesome and beautifully fill in the factory muffler cutouts. The best thing is they do not drone. They have a mellow yet aggressive-enough sound when accelerating but do not transmit vibration through the interior. It took about 2 weeks for the sound to mature but, wow, it was worth it.
This system is in the same price range as Alta, NM and a little more than Magnaflow. However, I had heard all of them and, in my opinion, I have never heard a better sounding system.
I will be at MINIS on the Dragon in May and will be more than happy to show off the system. I will be participating in Thursday, May 3rd's, Exhaust Sound-Off (http://www.minisonthedragon.com/2012_Exhaust.php.
The new systems are also available for the R56 and R57 and the exhaust tips are changable. I will post some pictures of those systems soon. I will also post an audio clip soon.

Here are the other systems and tips available from Remus. The R56 system has two blank 2 3/8” outlets that can accommodate any single weld on clamp on or set screw mount tips. The Valance is large enough to handle our largest 102mm tips, as you may have seen on “Maverickgun’s” posts on NAM (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-exhaust.html).
Slimjimtell, who did the JCW tune for you? My local dealer won't do the "tune only" which is really where the JCW "kit" get's its power from, the exhaust and intake and just noise makers. Can't wait to get this on my car and do a test run to Las Vegas and back to see how it is at a steady 80-85 mph run. If it's not to loud, I am contemplating on a resonator bypass pipe., which gives me a "JCW stage 1" exhaust as the dealer would install with the kit.
Has anyone with an R55/Clubman removed the resonator in conjunction with the Remus exhaust and if so, did it increase cabin noise substantially?
