Based on what I've read here, it's an issue I'll pursue with the dealer before my warranty expires!

Pursue it. My '08 was very noisy as well from when I got it at 18k miles (2nd owner). Mini replaced the sunroof seal under warranty and it's quite like a coffin inside now in comparison. The dealer said it was common for the seal to shrink and get noisy in the AZ heat.

Driver window was not going up the extra 1/2", upon trying to reprogram the dealer said my main communication computer would crash.They replaced the entire "CCC" computer under warranty. Next it goes in for the hood scoop replacement. Lots of rattles to sort out.
