Under car clearence in the snow

Does anyone have any issues or concerns or stories to tell regarding the 4-5 inches max of clearence under the front air dam and driving in the snow. This is my first winter in my 08 Clubman S (last year I had a Honda beeter)and on my first trip I hit a couple of slush ruts that packed slush between the bottom bumper and air dam. I'm concerned a ploughed snow lump or deeper snow might damage my oil cooler or lower rad. Please let me know what you think.

I go to work early enough that I often make the last mile before the snow plows do and I have pushed snow with the air dam and never had any problem. I know over the last 4 winters I have hit a number of snow/ice lumps that have not caused any damage.

Only once last spring, after a 10-incher, did I drag with any significance. If you have good snow tires, you should be fine. I've never hit an ice lump, however. This is full winter #2 for me coming up, and we get well over 100" every winter here.

Thanks for the info guys. This goes a long way to making me feel a little better about my Mini and this upcoming winter.

Last year first ever snow ween by my clubman it drove thru the 14"+ of snow piled at the end of my driveway by the plows with no problem or damage. I reguallry drive with more than 5 inches of snow on the ground with no problem.

i was a snow plow a couple times last year. Mines lowered though too, so im down to like 4" or something. I never got stuck anywhere though, and never had to really drive through or out of anything bad, except once

You will probably OK as long as you keep your speed reasonable. It's one thing to push snow out of the way, it's another thing to smash it out of the way.
