As far as introductions, I'm a new Mini enthusiast and am picking up a midnight black Clubman JCW. I'm curious to know if anyone has put black stripes on a black car. I've seen it on an AC Cobra and thought it looked real bad ***. If anyone has any pix or comments, that'd be great!

I'm sure this wont be my first/last comment.

 

The black stripes with the white edge's would probably look pretty good. The solid black stripes would probably look funny.

I recently saw a black JCW with flat black stripes at the dealer. I actually drove by and had to go around the block to get a closer look. Looked great.

 

Thanks for the responses. To clarify, I'm looking at putting the black sport stripes and not the white edge 23 degree angle stripes. This would almost negate any direct visual of the stripes, almost a ghosting of them. I'm thinking of making a mock up of the stripes and laying them down on the hood to get as close to the real thing before deciding.

Yup - I think the key is matte vs gloss. You want a bit of contrast between the stripes and paint if you're doing a tone-on-tone black-on-black look. Matte stripes on gloss black paint would look awesome.

 

Or you could just do clear matt finish vinyl. Ooooooh.
