This morning before work, the driver of a 98 Toyota RAV 4 was told by the officer at the roadwork area to back up & proceed around the cones the right way (she was heading towards the workers) !!!
So she threw it in reverse, did not look, and smacked me before I could even react

 

- took it to drive-in appraisal: since only 17k miles, parts will be new, for sure new grill and hood. . .

 

Ouch! The officer did witness this and confirm with the insurance agencies that it was her fault, right?

Dang what is it with the right front. My Clubman is in the shop right now. Mine's not bad enough for a new hood or bondo. I feel your pain though!

 

Man, if I knew where she lived, I'd punch her lights out for ya. It just ain't right.

That sucks! Although not in my Clubman, I have had an idiot throw it in reverse and back right over the hood of my car once...didn't look once before he did it.

It'll be fixed and looking good in no time!

 

Sorry about your misfortune! I've had my own little 'incident' although it was my own fault. At least you had the law witness the whole thing and make sure it's right with the insurance companies.

Hope you're back on the road good as new soon. (The sting does wear off somewhat if that's any consolation to you.)

All these pooooor boo boo'd MINIs... My GP alllllmmmooosssttt ended up like this on Saturday..Took my eye off the road for two seconds and gal in front of me decided to stop for a fraking squirrel!!

 

Some People just should not be driving. First she is not paying enough attention driving in a construction zone. Then she floors it going backwards without looking. If the cop was not there she probably would have killed a construction worker. She should not be behind the wheel of a car at all.

Well I got the check from the insurance co. and am getting it looked at tonight by my bodyman to see if additional parts are required: they listed new hood (bonnet) and front bumper cover as well as other items.

I decided it is a good time for my first MOD.
* I just ordered a JCW black "mesh" grill and will ask for black bonnet stripes to replace the existing silver ones, when the time comes. . .

 

So sorry about this Bernard - and I'm a bit late chiming in my condolences, too.

I almost got hit today by a very large truck who suddenly started backing up while we were stopped at a red light! I couldn't back up even if I'd tried (a car behind me) so I slammed on the horn and just kept watching - thankfully he finally stopped just in time.

Ugh, bad drivers, bad fortune, bad timing...but as long as no one is hurt, that's what we have to be thankful for, eh?

 

yeah OTRA no injuries thankfully ~ it was not a bad hit, more emotional damage to me than body damage to the MINI

Got a call yesterday: the parts arrived at the shop, they will take it in Monday A.M.
