Does it bother you that the dual panel sunroof lacks a solid sun shade?
Does the sun comes through too much during sunny days? What about noise?

 

Yes, tho I really didn't need a sunroof, and prolly will never use it. In Texas it will roast ya, and yes, I wish they made covers instead of screens.
I bought the sunroof shades from MiniMania, stuck 'em on and never looked back!

 

Yes, it is a design flaw, no doubt. Nevertheless, the positives of the sunroof outweigh this negative, for us.

I have had sunroofs on several cars. It is initially appealing to want one when you buy a car. However, I find that I rarely use it. Most of the time, the shade is closed to either minimize the heat, or block the brightness when driving. There are a few times in spring and fall when it is kind of nice but even then, sometimes I forget to open the shade because I dont pay attention to having it. The issue with the clubman is; is it worth $1k to have it when you may not use it much?

 

Were they kidding when that put that mesh thingy in lieu of an actual sun shade? Can't wear a cap to work else I have horrible hat head by the time I get there.

AZ sun is no joke. Just ordered a zippee shade. Pricey, has the hideous company logo on it, but probably worth it to prevent frying my scalp to a crisp. Plus, it can probably get upwards of 130 deg in the car real quick, esp with an uncovered sunroof.

 

It was annoying until I put 5% Llumar on both sunroofs. Now it doesn't bother me any more.

 

Thought about that, but then what's the point of having the sunroof? I'd like the option of letting in light, just not ALL the time.

 

You get the light, just not the obnoxious amount of it. For me - with 5% tint and the shade pulled out, I get the comfort. Get rid of the shade and you get the light.

 

Yes, that does bother me. If the sunroof had a solid sun shade, I'd definitely be getting it. But since it doesn't, I have to reconsider it...

Yes, it bothered me too. I am in Texas and the heat isn't usually welcome. I considered tinting, but installers here didn't recommend it due to possible breakage. I solved it by going to FastSigns and getting a vinyl mesh printed the exact color of my top (silver) and installed by them. Entire cost was $130. It took only 15 minutes for them to install. It now blocks 50% of heat/light and it has made a big difference.

I had my sun roof glass tinted in the darkest ceramic tint available. With the screen closed it is now tollerable. Prior to that on my first Mini I used movie screen material cut to size and placed it between the glass and the mesh sun screen. It worked well as it blocked out the sun.

 

I did the dark tint on the back sun roof on my Clubman, and left he front wonderfully viewable -- the mess handles the needed reduced light. ;-)

 

It bothered us, so we skipped the sunroof altogether. Haven't missed it at all.

 

We did a 50% ceramic tint and during the 102 temps of last week it was not necessary to have the AC fan above the lowest setting to keep the cabin at 68

 

Live in Houston, lots of sun, no problem. I rarely even remember or are reminded that there is not a solid roof over my head. Its one of the few cars I've owned where the sunroof doesn't seem just like a hole cut in the top.

 

I thought that it was odd at first but actually I kinda like it. Now that the pano is tinted to 20% light transmit! Keeps things cool and still allows us to see out the top with the roof closed as well! Highly recommend tinting for the folks that have not done it......

I thought it would bother me--given all the complaints on this site--but after driving around with it now that the sun is out, it's fine. I actually prefer it to having a solid covering.

 

Nope... Doesn't bother me! I love the dual-pane sunroof and rarely use the mesh sun shade. But that might have something to do with living in Seattle.

 

It did bother me at first because it was so damn bright in the car...heat was not an issue... Eventually I just had a full vinyl sunroof graphic made and installed..

 

I find it to be a dumb design item. I suppose that since these are made in the UK, where the sun does not shine so much, they figured the rest of the world is cloudy most of the time as well.

 

I thought it would, but I actually kinda like having the sun shad closed with the sunroof open - lets just the right amount of sun & wind in. Now the air dam made of screen-door material is another story... acts as a bug collector.
