Change just one thing on your car

I still love my Clubbie and wouldn't give it up for another car. However, I admit that MINIs are for those who want something different in life. The huge speedometer in the center puts some people off. The size, even in a Clubman, also drives others away. The unusual controls also tend to receive a lot of criticism. Having said all that, I admit that there are a few quirks that I'd like to change. The most annoying thing of all is the windshield wipers. What is up with that? There are only three speeds and they're all too fast or too slow. The intermittent setting is also annoying. My '00 Intrepid had six speeds so I didn't have to constantly push down on the stalk every five seconds like I do with my Clubbie. That's the one thing I'd change if I could.
What would you change on your MINI? You can only pick one.

I'm totally fine w/ the car as is, but a temp gauge would be nice.

+1 on the temp gauge

One touch sunroof open and close would be a very close second

RE the Speedo

if you have the nav system it's not a huge speedo

Easier to use radio controls. Should be intuitive so you don't have to take your eyes off the road to adjust the settings and preferences.

You must not have the convenience package with the rain sensing wipers.

Here is how mine work and they work GREAT

1. Push end of wiper stalk puts wipers in auto rain sensing mode. They then wipe when ever there is rain drops on the window just behind the mirror. The sensitivity of them can be adjusted. The wipers will run at any speed from never up the maximum speed of fast mode.

2. One push up on the stalk is slow wipe. If car is moving the wipers are wiping at a set speed. when car comes to a stop the wipers go into a intermittent mode, wiping once every 5 seconds.

3. Push up on stalk twice is fast mode. If car is moving wipers run at fast set mode when car comes to a stop wiper slow down to slow mode.

As for any thing i would change. Only the Stereo system and that is an in process item.

No sir, I didn't like it.

five speed instead of a six speed

The 2009 JCW would be much better with a five speed manual transmission then with this six speed. The JCW engine puts out more then enough torque and horsepower to warrent a five speed.
The six gear ratio's are really spaced to close together where a five speed would just plain be of more use with this car.
Don't get me wrong, The six speed is OK but the five speed would be much better.
Other then that I can't find anything I did not get used to or needed to be changed.
I do still like my 2009 JCW even with a six speed. Ronnie948

Sunroof sunshade would be solid, not perforated.

I consider these all minor and they are in order of what I would change first, second, etc.
1) Variable intermittent speed wipers as std eqmt.
2) Door lock switch - "Up" to open and "down" to lock.
3) Temp gage
4) Coin holder as std eqmt.

Cluster guages: Oil pressure, coolant temp, Battery charge.

+ being able to set the sterero so that it turns off when I turn the car off, not having to turn it off a second time or by locking.

Well I have an 08 and the biggest change I would like is the roof rails! I know they did it now but they left us 08'ers out. I do have the mini bars but it is the worst rack system I have ever used and I've used a ton of them.

i totally agree with changing the wipers... my old car had like 6 or 8 intermittant settings as well as slow constant and fast constant... i do like that they slow at lights though

#1. A temp gauge
#2. Turn off (or turn down) the seat belt chime.

Now that the Clubman's such a big hit for MINI, it would be nice if they added a nice chrome Clubman badge to the rear of the car.

+1 . Man, roof rails might convince the wife to take the clubbie on vacations.

A lock out on reverse gear. You should have to press down to go into reverse. It is terribly annoying to go into reverse by accident at a light and downright dangerous! It is way too easy to go into reverse!

I would LOVE to have an extra light (or perhaps overhead light) in the boot. The single dinky light on the left side floor of the boot does NOTHING to illuminate that area at night!

I hate the turn signals. There's not enough of a detent so when I just want to change lanes I often find I have the full turn signal on. When I try to undo it, the turn signal goes on the other way. I know it's very confusing to those behind me.
