Rust!? on beltline

I got my Clubbie in October. We've had it tough here in the Pacific Northwest the last few weeks. It's nearly 50 degrees here today, so I rushed out to wash my baby and what did I find?
Is this rust?! What do I do about it? These photos are of the back window, I believe it's called the beltline. It looks like rust and scrubbing with my car washing for the non-OCDer's tools did nothing to it.

Well it's not rust because that trim is made of plastic. Must be some kind of chemical pitting in the plastic. Have they put something on the roads for de-icing or something like that. It might have gotten on the plastic trim and affected it some way.

Have you taken it in to your dealer yet? I'd see what they have to say.

Right, beltline plastic should have known. Guess maybe I'm happy about that. It sure looks and acts like rust, though.
My dealer is 3.5 hr away. I may email or call them, though.
I may get out an old toothbrush or something and try and get it off.
Guess this is one more excuse to get it blacked out.
thnx.

Is it pitted? Like are there holes or air pockets on the surface? If not you can try plain old car wax, it usually cleans plastic pretty good. If it is pitted with holes and stuff it might be covered under warranty, it should stand up the elements better than that...
